Due to a recent restructure, we are seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, and forward-thinking pharmacy technician for the role of Pharmacy Technician Team Manager within the Pharmacy Workforce Development Team.
Pharmacy Workforce Development lead the training and education strategy, and the workforce strategy for the Medicines Management and Pharmacy Services department.
We are looking for a leader who has experience of change management to allow us to adapt to the meet the regulatory and workforce requirements for the training and development of non GPHC registrants, as well as other workforce challenges. Knowledge and experience of training of the pharmacy workforce would be beneficial but not essential.
This is an exciting time to work in education and development and to be involved in implementing change that will influence practice for decades to come.
MMPS employs around 700 staff with approximately 170 people on training courses/programmes. This post will focus on the training and workforce development for non GPhC registrants across a wide variety of departments and roles in the CSU.
The post is offered on a full-time basis and the post holder will be required to work evening and weekend shifts.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will have two main areas of responsibility: i) managing learners and supporting good practice in the training of non GPhC registrant staff across the CSU and ii) delivering key aspects of the MMPS workforce strategy.
They will ensure all training and development programmes meet regulatory requirements, are of high quality and provide good value for money.
They will use their post qualification experience to lead the team responsible for the delivery and development of training for non GPhC registrant staff, including initial training and advanced practice development. The role will involve line management of the specialist pharmacy technicians within the team.
They will also be involved in work to develop and implement training pathways for other members of the pharmacy workforce through our cross-team collaborations.
They will be involved in service improvement, eg. adapting programmes to meet the needs of learners and our patients, as well as implementing changes identified in the workforce strategy.
They will collaborate with others in MMPS to support workforce transformation and assist other teams to deliver their workforce strategy. Collaboration with LTHT, local and national partners is also vital to identify and develop new opportunities for the pharmacy workforce, develop career pathways and deliver workforce strategy goals

As part of the Pharmacy Workforce Development Management team, support the Pharmacy Patient Services Manager in the development and planning of the service investigation and actions from errors and incidents and respond to audits.
To work closely with other MMPS technical and support service managers to ensure the strategic direction of the Dispensary service supports operational areas.
Principal duties & areas of responsibility
Responsible for leading review of practice and procedures for MMPS Workforce Development, working across the Trust ensuring that these are in compliance with current legislation and standards.
Work with MMPS Lead Clinician, Workforce Development, to review and plan service needs and developments, ensuring adequate resource is available and all necessary training is in place.
Allocation of staffing resource to ensure Workforce Development activities are covered. Make judgement on staff allocation where there is a varied and competing demand on the service. Analyse data to ensure the staffing allocation is appropriate.
Develop systems to ensure that effective communication arrangements are in place to enable briefing of procedural change and review as it arises.
Responsible for the establishment of a defined range of competencies for staff. Identifies assessment criteria and produces training schedules and coordinates the delivery of both induction and refresher training.
Coordinates, supervises and supports staff involved in delivering training and verifies that training is provided in a consistent manner, is documented and is to the required standards.
Communicates with ward staff on a daily basis to assess their medicine requirements for individual patients. Responsible for liaising with patients, carers and ward staff in order to resolve problems relating to medication errors, untoward incidents and complaints.
Leads the implementation of new IT systems within MMPS Workforce Development. Develop and implement new policies required in line with new automation.
