An exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic and innovative Children and Adults Safeguarding team within the Directorate of Nursing and Quality Governance in the role of Named Professional - Safeguarding Children (Brookside Child and Adolescent Unit).
We are seeking an experienced professional who has strong Safeguarding Children experience to support us on our journey from GOOD to OUTSTANDING, providing first-rate leadership, and shaping our service as we deliver our objectives within our 23/25 Safeguarding Strategy.
As a Safeguarding Named Professional, you would offer first class Safeguarding guidance and supervision across the service for children, young people and/or vulnerable adults.
We are looking for a forward thinking, dynamic change agent - do you think this could be you?
The post holder will be based at Brookside Child and Adolescent Inpatient Unit. There will be the requirement for occasional travel to Essex and other London boroughs.
The appointed candidate will be working across 3 teams based at Brookside.
The successful candidate will be supporting the Safeguarding Team and will work closely alongside other Named Professionals, the Head of Safeguarding Children and operational colleagues.
You will be required to provide input to NELFT's Safeguarding Advice Service, safeguarding training provision and policy development as well as contributing to the progress of the safeguarding work plan.
This post is offered on a substantive, full-time basis.
Main duties of the job
The responsibilities of the post will include cross organisational and partnership working at both strategic and operational levels, working closely with other agencies to address the safeguarding children and think family agenda,lead on developing a robust training strategy and comprehensive training programme to meet safeguarding educational/training requirements for all staff.

Starting with NELFT
NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.
Probationary Period
This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).
High Cost Area Supplement
This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of �4,551 to a maximum of �5,735).
COVID-19 Vaccination
We continue to encourage all staff to ensure that they have been double vaccinated and received their booster. We recognise that taking the vaccine provides the best defence against COVID 19 for our patients, our staff and their families.

- Be responsible for ensuring that NELFT meets its statutory requirements in respect of safeguarding children and young people and Think Family agenda
- Lead on the development of policies and procedures, implementing national guidance at a local level
- Effectively coordinate and communicate Safeguarding activity to promote the welfare of children, young people and adults. This will include ensuring coordination of safeguarding children supervision
- Provide clinical expertise and advice in relation to Safeguarding for all staff in NELFT, and particularly within the Brookside. The expertise will guide and promote the embedding of the principles of safe practice relating to safeguarding children and young people and Think Family to protect and safeguard children, young people and adults into everyday professional practice
