The Children's Continuing Care Team provide nursing support for children with complex health needs either in the child's own home or Swanbourne Gardens. (Our NHS 4bedded respite unit.)

The successful candidate will be based at Swanbourne Gardens, but will provide care in other community settings such as home or school.

You must have a full driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.

Main duties of the job

We strive to provide the children we support with high standards of care. We work in partnership with parents to help the children achieve their full potential. This includes accompanying the children on visits out into the community to gainsocial experiences.

We are looking for staff that are able to be flexible,we work around the needs of the families and the children which means we need staff who can flex their hours to start early, finish late and work overnight too.

We are looking for anBand 5 paediatric nurse. The post holder will have post registration experience, preferably of working with children with complex health needs and disability, either in a hospital or community setting.

Full training and supervision will be available from our existing senior team, but any previous experience would be desirable.

We are a very small but supportive team who can offer support and guidance to you in developing new skills and adapting to working in a new environment.

Job description

Job responsibilities

As a band 5 working within the team you would be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care. You would be at the forefront of teaching and assessing the competencies required for the staff to deliver day to day care for the children with complex health needs, this will include interventions such as care and management of tracheostomies, gastrostomies and ventilation support. You would be expected to provide supervision and appraisals for the junior staff and ensure all mandatory training is up to date. As a band 5 we would expect you to role model the trusts value and behaviour framework when working within the team.

If successful, this vacancy will require an enhanced DBS check at a cost of �41.90. This cost will be deducted from your first Trust salary. In addition to this it will be a condition of your employment that you will join the DBS update service and pay the annual subscription fee of �13.
