The role involves overseeing and managing key educational programmes for 999 and the London Ambulance Service Emergency Operations Centres (EOC).

This is an exciting opportunity to promote and develop non-patient-facing clinical education supporting a streamlined service to patients across London.

This position plays a pivotal role in the collaboration and networking of departments across the London Ambulance Service and with our external stakeholders.

Main duties of the job

The post-holder will be responsible for providing clear, effective day to day management and leadership for the delivery of professional/technical education and development activity for staff within the 999 Control Services as part of the Integrated Patient Care Services.The post-holder will be responsible for managing the function of the Education Centre and ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of the formal education and training activities. The post holder will manage, support and mentor the teaching staff, and provide management and leadership to centre staff and learners.The post holder will monitor all trainer development activities and contribute to development of education and development courses.As a member of the Clinical Education and Standards Department, the post holder will be actively involved in promoting best clinical practice within the Service.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Maintain personal clinical / technical skills, including requirements for patient contact activity.

To ensure that the education and development provided by the Education Centre are responsive and appropriate to the needs of the service.

Manage and update all staff systems to reflect current status (i.e. GRS, ESR, AtLAS, student database).

Responsible for coordinating the local delivery of the services Education and Development Strategy and Plan

A key role in supporting the delivery of the education packages that are cost effective, efficient and timely.

Lead in continually reviewing, developing and improving educational and training activities to maximise patient care, and support the integration of the 111, 999 and IUC functions.

Contributing to the transformation and development of the department, its purpose and culture.

As a work based education and training specialist, provide leadership and management to staff and learners in the Education Centre, supporting their professional and personal development

Qualifications

Essential

  • Professional/degree level qualification or equivalent
  • MPDS accreditation
  • Post-Graduate Certificate of Education/Certificate of Education or IHCD Ambulance Tutor award


Desirable

  • NHS Pathways


Experience

Essential

  • Ambulance, emergency service, or health service experience
  • Experience of working within multi-disciplinary teams
  • Experience of managing, developing and motivating staff in a team context
  • Experience of influencing at a managerial level
  • Experience of engaging effectively with internal and external stakeholders


Desirable

  • Experience of working in teams to deliver programmes and projects of work which involve change
