Exciting opportunities for experienced social workers to join our ambitious, innovative and supportive Adult Social Care Community teams.
The Social Care pathway provides a truly integrated, recovery focussed service to local people of North Staffordshire aged 18 and over, and those transitioning into adult services, who are experiencing significant and disabling functional mental health difficulties. Our social workers are core members of the integrated mental health pathways and are highly valued and respected in their role supporting the recovery journey for adults with significant mental health needs.
We are supported by strong partnerships and working relationships with local independent service providers and voluntary agencies. We pride ourselves on a responsive, reflective and effective service to the communities of North Staffordshire.
Main duties of the job
It is highly desirable for the successful candidate to be:
Experienced and knowledgeable social worker, preferably qualified as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP), or is able to commence the AMHP training in the near future.
Social Work England registered Social Worker with significant experience
The ideal candidate will need to be:
Enthusiastic, proactive and innovative
Possess excellent communication, organisational and IT skills
Has a good working knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1983 (2007) The Care Act 2014 and The Mental Capacity Act 2005
Hold a current UK driving licence and have a vehicle
Dependent on an individual's location and preference we will be in a position to negotiate a designated work-base. The Social Care Pathway currently has accommodation in Newcastle and Leek areas.

On appointment, the post holder will be auto-enrolled in the SWLA and aligned to the appropriate British Association of Social Work Professional Capabilities Framework. The relevant SWLA stage (i.e. stage 1 (ASYE), 2 (Social Worker) or 3 (Advanced Social Worker) will also be agreed taking all prior Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and relevant experience into consideration. The post holder will be required to take responsibility for their own Continuous Professional Development.

- Professional Social Work qualification, DipSW, CQSW, CSS, BA, MA or Foreign qualification where certified by the Professional Social Work regulatory body
- Ensuring current registration with the Professional Social Work regulatory body at all times.
- To hold/to undertake and achieve the status of Approved Mental Health Professional and/or Best Interest Assessor as per the SWLA Career Pathway
- To undertake and achieve the status of Work Based Supervisor and Practice Educator as per the SWLA Career Pathway
