Working with a vision of delivering excellence in everything we do the post holder will work as a member of the Radiology Leadership Team to ensure service delivery of the Radiology Pathway within the clinical Support Division.
The post holder must be an autonomous advanced practitioner who can provide clinical leadership in MRI education, audit and research. They will work closely with Modality Managers, Specialty General Managers, and Consultant Radiologists, and in collaboration with the Principal Research Radiographer, R& D Imaging Support Unit.
The role will include clinically based sessions, with the post holder undertaking their own autonomous advanced practice, in conjunction with non-clinical duties of team leadership and management. The role requires the successful candidate to develop an innovative team that demonstrates a leading edge based practice in our MRI department and thus ensuring delivery of an effective, high quality and evidence based service for our patients and referrers.
Main duties of the job
PRINCIPLE DUTIES
1. To undertake the measurement and evaluation of own and others current practices through the use of evidence based practice projects, audit, outcome measures and benchmarking.
2. To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of own work.
3. To ensure a high standard of clinical care for all patients.
4. To provide specialist advice and support the MRI Team, to advise on aspects of radiographic imaging procedures and image acquisition.
5. To maintain up to date knowledge of current advanced practice procedures carried out
6. To independently perform and interpret MRI examinations in order to establish a diagnosis where appropriate
7. In conjunction with the Practice Development Team in Radiology develop guidelines and policies to support evidence based practice and to have a good working knowledge of national and local standards.
8. Undertaking and participating in the annual appraisal process to include reflected practice and multi-source feedback
9. Providing feedback to staff members regarding this specialized field of practice in a confidential and sensitive manner.
10. To advise on issues of MRI safety and refer complex enquiries to the MRI safety expert as per the local rules
11. Provide local and regional advice for device safety
12. Working in conjunction with the clinical operational lead for service delivery.

Tolead the non-medical and radiographic clinical audit, research and innovation programme on behalf of the MRI department, and through collaboration with the Principal Research Radiographer, R& D Imaging Support Unit and Clinical Academic Leads for AHPs
2. To lead and support the evaluation of the effectiveness of the service through clinical audit in liaison with the Clinical Audit Lead, Radiology Accreditation and Quality Manager and other relevant stakeholders.
3. To take responsibility for promoting MRI education in the department, so that high standards are maintained. Work to strategically develop radiography education so that NUH clinical services are able to meet the future demands placed on our service.
4. To provide expert knowledge to Higher Education Institutions (e.g. University of Derby and Sheffield Hallam) and contribute to higher education in MRI
5. Provide specialist clinical advice, leadership, support, guidance and training to radiographers and other healthcare professionals working both within and out with the Trust. Including, but not limited to, registrars, consultants, development professionals, research fellows and medical physics
6. To initiate evidence based practice and ensure implementation of national and local standards. Cascade national and local standards into current working practice ensuring that staff is informed of recent developments through support and facilitation of attendance at research based conferences and postgraduate education and training courses.
7. To initiate, develop and support extended scopes of practice, advanced practice and develop local pathways of care across modalities so as to facilitate the optimal service to patients.
8. To provide clinical leadership within the Radiology Pathway, through consultation and joint working with all bands of staff, in the management of complex patients in order to improve clinical pathways
9. Provide operational leadership for the MRI service in conjunction with the Lead MRI radiographer, Intraoperative Lead radiographer and Modality manager to deliver an efficient and high quality service.
10. To support staff so that their performance is enhanced and they are able to develop and maintain highly specialist advanced clinical skills. These skills will include:-
Providing complex advice and guidance on all issues relating to advanced practice in MRI in line with national and local guidelines
Maintaining contact, actively participating and potentially provide leadership in appropriate specialist radiography groups and clinical networks, both nationally and locally, advising these groups as appropriate, and also identifying best practice and incorporating these into NUH practice.
Developing, implementing and auditing guidelines and protocols for the speciality as appropriate, in conjunction with relevant medical and other clinical staff.
Evaluating published literature on new developments in the speciality as appropriate and providing information and advice to radiographers, managers and consultants
Representing the speciality, with regard to training, on Trust committees as required.
To be a high level ambassador for the radiography profession, and for the Trusts Radiology department when coming into contact with key senior figures within the Trust, and with external agencies, organisations and official bodies.
To liaise with external stakeholders where change in guidelines and national practice is required.
