Main duties of the job
The echocardiography team at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) are delighted to be able to offer a fantastic opportunity for a motivated and enthusiastic cardiac physiologist who specialises in Echocardiography to join us. The successful candidate will need to be working towards Level 2 British Society of Echocardiography(BSE) accreditation with the support of our experienced education and mentoring team.
We are a vibrant and diverse BSE-accredited department, collectively performing around 30,000 echocardiograms each year on all ages. UHS offers fantastic training and development giving you the best possible opportunities to achieve the career you want. Our specialised echocardiographers are involved in physiologist led valve, heart failure and contrast clinics, paediatric and adult congenital echocardiography, trans-oesophageal and stress echocardiography.
Our department operates Monday to Saturday. Full time staff work 4 days per week. You will be asked to participate in Saturday and bank holiday working on a rotational basis with a compensatory day off during the week. Although Southampton General is our main site, there may be a requirement to work across multiple sites. There is a �5000 recruitment and retention payment available following 2 years of service.

Responsibilities- Performing and reporting adult transthoracic echocardiograms on inpatients and outpatients- Working towards Level 2 BSE accreditation in transthoracic echocardiography- Supporting the non-invasive cardiology department with ambulatory ECG analysis, exercise and tilt testing and stress echocardiography
What experience/skills are needed- Able to perform and report transthoracic echocardiography on adult patients according to the BSE minimum dataset- Strong foundation knowledge of cardiac physiology, including ECG and Echocardiography- BSc (Hons) Clinical Physiology (Cardiac Science) with at least 1 year post qualification experience in echocardiography
