The Trust is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Adult Community Mental Health Service in Holderness, which operates a recovery based mental health service for those who have enduring mental health problems.

The post holder, alongside their team, will work closely with service users and carers, their families, primary care services, and other local statutory and non-statutory agencies. The team is multi-disciplinary consisting of a wide range of health and social care professionals supported by administration staff, providing high quality, responsive and recovery-focused care and support to working age adults. The team provides a specialist service with interventions and care packages which reflect an individual's own unique needs, promoting diversity inclusion and respect for all people from all sections of society.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will use a recovery focused pathway model as part of their service delivery. They will plan care to both measure and support progress for service users towards self-reliance, or other goals, in areas including managing mental health, physical health, living skills, responsibilities, relationships and social networks. The clinical team uses a collaborative approach with patients and their families or carers as an integral part of the work.

Together with colleagues in the multidisciplinary team, you will offer medical leadership, assessment and management of patients on the community caseload and contribute to the on call rota for the wider General Adult Service.

Job description

Job responsibilities

As a consultant working in the Holderness Team, you will have responsibility for the provision of safe and effective care and treatment. You will share the vision of integrated and multi-disciplinary working and actively engage in the development of the service through research and support.

The post holder would be expected to be approved as a Responsible Clinician or be willing to undertake training to obtain Section 12(2) MHA and will be expected to renew this approval according to agreed procedures.Please read our attached Job Description and Person Specification for more information on our exciting role available.

Person Specification

Education/training/skills

Essential

  • Medical Qualification
  • Approved Clinician Status and Section 12 Approval
  • Applicants must be included on the GMC's Specialist Register or Specialist Registrars within 6 months of completing their CCT
  • Full Registration with the GMC
  • Section 12 (2) approval or willingness to apply for approval once in post.
  • Ability to supervise junior staff
  • Evidence of ability to take a leadership role within a multidisciplinary team


Desirable

  • MRCPsych
  • Willingness in due course to become an ST4-6 trainer


Experience

Essential

  • Experience of psychiatric practice in a range of settings
  • Evidence of experience in medical audit or QIP and understanding principles of clinical governance
  • Experience of working within Community General Adults mental health settings


Desirable

  • Demonstrate interest to teach staff in other specialities/ agencies/professions
  • Experience of working with patient's with personality disorder.
