Deputy ward manager, Coronary Care, West Cumberland Hospital

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior registered Nurse to join our team and support the ward manager as deputy on a permeant basis. We are an 8 bedded unit offering experience in Cardiology. We also run the NIV service for West Cumbria's patients.

We would like an individual who is committed to best practice and able to take charge of the team and general running of the ward. This would require relevant experience and good communication skills.

Main duties of the job

To take charge of the ward, being responsible for the cardiac monitoring in the central station.

Overseeing and supporting the more junior staff, delegating patients appropriately.

Liaising with other hospitals, staff and bed management to ensure safe patient transfers. Manging beds and patient admissions.

Escalating appropriate concerns concerns to management.

Taking part in ward audits.

Helping to arrange cover and management of sickness.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse with active NMC registration


Desirable

  • ALS or equivalent
  • Relevant post-registration development or equivalent
  • Mentorship certificate.


Experience

Essential

  • General nursing within the NHS or equivalent
  • Cardiology experience


Desirable

  • Budgetary awareness
  • Supporting Students
  • NIV experience.
  • management experience.


Knowledge

Essential

  • NMC code of professional conduct
  • Knowledge of safeguarding issues
  • Knowledge of cardiac arrhythmias, able to take responsibility for observing the cardiac monitors.


Desirable

  • Coronary Care experience
  • Research / audit.


Skills and Aptitudes
