An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Ophthalmology Department for an Ophthalmic nurse to learn the enhanced skill of intravitreal injections to help meet the demands of the service and needs of the patients. The successful candidate will be part of a large and supportive team, working with the Medical Retina (MR) Consultants, other nurse injectors, MR co-ordinators team and the current nursing staff at NNUH, Central Norwich Eye Clinic (CNEC) and Cromer.
Main duties of the job
An exciting opportunity has arisen within the MR team, who are looking for a new nurse to join the Ophthalmology MR Specialist Nurse Team. We welcome applications from Registered Nurses with a minimum of two years ophthalmic experience to join our team.
You should be an enthusiastic and committed professional, with the passion and drive to provide the highest quality ophthalmic care to our patients. We work closely with all our ophthalmology teams and all health care professionals. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced nurse who is dynamic, friendly and who strives to provide an excellent standard of care.
You will need to be flexible and be prepared to work between the three sites at NNUH, Cromer and CNEC.Please state on your application how many hours you would be interested in applying for.

Job description
Job responsibilities
- The post holder will, under the direction of the Ophthalmology Consultant, assisting ophthalmology patients in a seamless journey through the sub speciality pathways.
- Educating the patient on the management and control of symptoms and offering support following diagnosis. To be a resource for other health professionals.
- Full training to examine the eye using the slit lamp to give intravitreal injections and/or perform minor surgical procedures will be provided on commencement in post.
- As a key member of a multi professional team, ensure appropriate referral and discussion with other members of the team to optimise patient care.
- Ensure patients are assessed, have care plans that are implemented and evaluated in accordance with Trusts evidence based procedural documents.
- Champion a culture of learning and quality improvement in the clinical area.
- To support the delivery of a high quality, safe and compassionate healthcare service all staff are expected to act as a role model to others in all aspects of their work and consistently demonstrate NNUHs PRIDE values of People focused, Respect, Dedication, Integrity and Excellence.

- Registered Nurse on the appropriate part of the NMC register
- To have completed the mentorship preparation programme or equivalent experience
- To have completed Post registration CPD/ Ophthalmic/ Leadership/Education
