A vacancy has arisen for an experienced anaesthetic nurse/ ODP to join the Children's Day Surgery Unit as a senior practitioner.
The Children's Day Surgery Unit is a brand new, building which opened in July 2023, consisting of admissions and discharge areas, recovery and 2 state of the arttheatres.
The successful candidate will have expert anaesthetics skills, be proactive, self-motivated, have strong inter-personal skills, a vision for service improvement and demonstrable leadership and management skills. This role is expected to actively support, co-ordinate and assist in the management and delivery of high quality care to patients.
They must have a paediatric qualification / or paediatric anaesthetic experience.

Main duties of the job
- Perform anaesthetic duties and staff management, theatre coordinating at times . Ensure the smooth running of the unit.
- Act as team leader in the unit, managing a team of nurses alongside fellow band 6 colleagues.
- Support and mentor junior staff.
- Play an active role in teaching and education of colleagues and joining staff members and students.
- Administer PDRs for Band 5 staff.
- Participate in different link nurse opportunities
- Actively participate in areas of Clinical Governance, Audit, and Research projects.
- Actively participate in service improvement projects.
- Participate in effective recourse management of anaesthetic consumables and equipment.
- Be willing to learn to / or able to deputise for Charge Nurse.
- May be required to rotate to main theatres and recovery at times.

- RN1/ RN2/ RN12 or RN Child Registered Nurse on the NMC register/ ODP registered on the HCPC register. To hold the appropriate level for the area of speciality.
- Evidence of professional/clinical knowledge in area supplemented by specialist clinical, managerial training and CPD

- Up to date knowledge of current clinical and professional issues. Knowledge of evidence-based practice.
