This is an exciting opportunity to join our dermatology nursing team and to support patients with dermatological conditions. The post holder will be working with a team of senior nurses and consultants.

There will be training in dermatology and treatments available. The nursing service offers nurse led clinics and advice. The post holder needs to be passionate about working with often patients who have a chronic condition, to enable them to have good quality of life whilst managing their conditions.

Developing opportunities within the team are available as the services develop.

Main duties of the job

Job summary:

To develop into a skilled practitioner in dermatology and act as a resource for patients and other health care professionals.

To participate in the direct access to surgery element of the Skin Analytics pathway

To support the Dermatology CNS team in provision of biologic and other treatments and dermatology clinics (F2F and telephone)

To collate and submit research & audit data as relevant

STAFF CAR PARKING

Staff Car Parking on the West Suffolk Hospital Site is eligible for individuals working outside of the core hours, 07:00 18:30.

For individuals working within the core hours, the Trust offers parking off site at the Bury St Edmunds Rugby Club, which is serviced by a regular shuttle bus to and from the Hospital. Details of the bus timetable can be found in the on-line starter pack on the West Suffolk Hospital website.

This parking restriction does not apply if an individual is required to work on a weekend or if they are required to complete on call duties within their role.

Person Specification

Education and qualifications

Essential

  • 1st level NMC Registered Nurse
  • Educated to a degree level or working towards ENB 988 or equivalent


Desirable

  • Clinical examination qualification
  • Experience in general dermatology/skin cancer and/or direct access pathways


Experience and knowledge

Essential

  • At least 3 years post registration experience
  • Knowledge of change management process
  • Ability to develop nursing excellence and clinical practice
  • Experience in information technology, audit and setting clinical standards.
  • Initiation & evaluation of research-based practice


Desirable

  • Managerial responsibility
  • Standard setting & protocol development clinical audit


Skills and abilities

  • Understanding the issues affecting Dermatology/cancer nursing and/or biologic treatment
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Ability to record & deal with accurate facts, figures and information.
