Patient Portal: This Umbraco CMS centralised platform will empower patients with secure access to their health information, appointment scheduling, self-referrals, and secure communication feedback loops. It's designed to enhance patient engagement, streamline administrative processes, and boost patient satisfaction by delivering personalized healthcare experiences.

    Job description

    Job responsibilities

    The post holder must be able to:-

    Create page mock-ups (both flat and HTML) to be used in technical specifications.

    Create visually appealing and responsive web pages adhering to NHS design guidelines.

    Implement design concepts into Umbraco CMS.

    Ensure cross-browser compatibility and mobile responsiveness.

    Optimise website performance for speed and efficiency.

    Debug, troubleshoot and fix front-end web issues.

    Test and validate web forms and interactive elements.

    Collaborate with back-end developers to integrate front-end and back-end systems.

    Stay updated with the latest trends in Umbraco and web development.

    The post holder must be able to demonstrate :-

    Proven experience in developing websites using Umbraco CMS.

    Deep understanding of web technologies such as HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript

    Good understanding in C# and .NET framework, essential for Umbraco development.

    Familiarity with front-end frameworks such as React

    Experience with version control systems, such as Git

    Deep knowledge of responsive web design principles

    Excellent knowledge of web accessibility standards

    Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.

    Proficiency in version control tools, preferably Git.

    Understanding of best practices for site performance and optimization in Umbraco CMS.

    Collaborative team spirit with excellent communication abilities.

    A continuous learning mindset to stay up-to-date with evolving web technologies.

    The post holder must be familiar with Windows PC and server operating systems.

    Qualifications

    Essential

    • Degree or equivalent level qualification in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience
    • Proven experience of designing and developing front-end websites/applications using Umbraco CMS.
    • Proven knowledge of high-level HTML5, CCS5 and JavaScript.


    Desirable

    • PRINCE or Agile project management skills.


    Experience

    Essential

    • Extensive experience in front-end software development.
    • Translating design requirements into quality mock-ups and prototypes.
    • Experience of analysing situations taking into consideration a range of facts and interpreting these appropriately.
    • Considerable knowledge of Umbraco CMS development.


    Desirable

    • Experience of working in a health setting

    Essential

    • Translate design mock-ups into Umbraco CMS applications.
    • Improving user experience by optimizing UI elements, navigation flows, and interaction patterns.
    • Conduct usability testing and gather feedback to identify pain points and areas for improvement
    • Ability to design and develop websites that adapt seamlessly to different screen sizes and devices
    • Proficiency in CSS media queries and flexible layout techniques to achieve responsive designs.
    • Experience with responsive design frameworks like Bootstrap.
    • Strong grasp of CSS fundamentals including selectors, specificity, box model, and layout techniques.
    • Proficiency in JavaScript programming, including ES6 features and modern JavaScript frameworks/libraries like React
    • Knowledge of DOM manipulation, event handling, asynchronous programming, and AJAX.
    • Solid understanding of HTML5 semantics, structure, and best practices.
    • Knowledge of web accessibility standards (WCAG) and best practices for designing inclusive and accessible web experiences
    • Ability to write cross-browser compatible code and address browser-specific issues and inconsistencies.
    • Experience with browser testing tools and techniques to ensure compatibility across major browsers and versions.
    • Proficiency in using jQuery library for DOM manipulation, event handling, and AJAX interactions.
    • Familiarity with browser developer tools for debugging, profiling, and optimizing web applications.
    • Umbraco CMS Good understanding of C#, ASP.NET, Razor Views needed for Umbraco development
    • Effective inter-personal skills, able to liaise with senior managers and clinicians offering guidance and interpretation on complex information
