Staff Nurse Paediatric Day Care

Band 5 �29,970 - �36,483 per annum pro rata if part-time

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, all MKUH roles will be considered for flexible working

We are seeking a Band 5 Registered Children's Nurse to join our team to work in Paediatric Day Care to deliver high quality care for patients that require treatments and investigations which are not suitable for an outpatient setting, such as Sedated MRI's, Infusions and Endocrine Tests.

If you are an Internationally Educated Nurse and are interested in apply for this role, you will need to have submitted your registration for your Paediatric NMC pin. If you have applied for an Adult NMC pin, unfortunately we cannot consider you for this role.

The successful applicant will be expected to work across all of our Paediatric areas and they will be supported by our experienced team of Senior Paediatric Nurses and our Paediatric Practice Development Team.

Job description

Job responsibilities

To work in conjunction with other staff as a member of a team of nurses, ensuring the highest standard of service for patients and families and accept responsibility for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care.

Clinical
  • To provide the highest standard of evidenced based nursing care for both the children and their families in line with local and nationally agreed standards and guidelines.
  • To holistically assess, plan, implement and evaluate the care of patients within their sphere of responsibility.

Professional
  • To at all times demonstrate a professional approach to work in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct, (2010).
  • Is required to have a working knowledge of the Childrens National Service Framework (2004) and understand the nursing responsibilities in relation to this publication.

Management
  • To promote effective communication, between all members of the multi disciplinary team.
  • To ensure planned care and treatments are carried out effectively by the team members delegated these tasks.

Education
  • To take personal responsibility for own development and updating to ensure that they meet the requirements of their individual KSF outline.
  • To attend training in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and have regular updates in line with Trust Policy

Person Specification

Qualifications and knowledge

Essential

  • RSCN/RN Child
  • Evidence of recent appropriate clinical practice
  • EPLS/PILS or equivalent


Desirable

  • Successfully completed a programme of study relevant to the delivery of day care services or has relevant transferable skills with a plan to undertake specialist qualification
  • Evidence of clinical experience within the day care field
  • Practice/assessor training
  • HDU module or equivalent
  • Research Knowledge


Experience

Essential

  • Significant experience post qualification
  • Experience of managing a caseload
  • Ability to work under pressure to manage workload and meet deadlines
  • Detailed experience in facilitation/ teaching


Desirable

  • Knowledge of current policies relating to best practice within day care services
  • Experience of successful change management

Essential

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with ability to liaise effectively with multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to develop relevant examination and clinical skills in speciality, to have transferable skills that support this role
  • Demonstrates ability to place child and family at centre of care
