Our speciality makes us exciting, ambitious and forward-thinking and we are looking for a committed, enthusiastic, motivated and resilient individual to join our nursing team.
This exciting opportunity will allow the individual to work alongside the Endoscopy managers to provide day to day leadership of the Endoscopy units. You will work as part of our dedicated, hardworking and friendly team in one of our two JAG accredited Endoscopy units within the Trust. Although you will be based on the RPH endoscopy unit, you will be expected to provide cross site cover at CDH when needed.
Main duties of the job
We carry out a wide range of both diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures to both outpatients and inpatients, these include

Your role will be to provide day to day leadership of the Endoscopy team (with the Endoscopy manager) to ensure that patients have a positive Endoscopy experience. You will have excellent communication skills, be forward thinking and well organised, with a positive attitude towards flexibility and change.

- GI procedures including OGD/Colonoscopy/Flexible sigmoidoscopy/Endoscopic Mucosal Resection (EMR)/Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP)/Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS)/Breath Tests.
- GI Emergency Bleed rota
- We work with the National Bowel Cancer Screening Programme (BCSP) as part of the team in the north-west.
- Diagnostic and therapeutic bronchoscopy including: Endobronchial Ultrasound/Trans Bronchial Needle Aspiration (EBUS/TBNA)/Endobronchial Valves and coils and stents/Thoracoscopy/Indwelling Pleural catheter (IPC) placement/Nasal-endoscopy for Induced Laryngeal Obstruction (ILO).

- Assist and support the Endoscopy Manager in the safe, effective management of the area including management of personnel, facilities and the associated systems and processes.
- Work closely with the Endoscopy Manager to ensure maintenance and continuing compliance with JAG accreditation.
- Act as a role model, presenting a positive image of self, team and the organisation
- Be responsible for the delivery and co-ordination of care, through appropriate professional practice, delegation and supervision of duties carried out by junior staff
- Ensure a high standard of nursing is delivered by self and others based on assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care to meet patients needs in accordance with agreed local and national standards and evidence based guidelines.
- Set, monitor and maintain standards of care to improve the patient experience and outcome of care
- Proactively manage risk and maintain patient safety, conforming to health, safety and security legislation, policies, procedures and guidelines.

Qualifications & Education
Essential
- Appropriate NMC Registration
- NMC recognised Mentorship qualification
- Diploma or Degree
- Evidence of continued professional development in Endoscopy
Desirable
- Post registration qualification in area of speciality area
- Level 2 or 3 ILM (Institute of leadership and Management) or equivalent
- Minimum of two years experience within the endoscopy setting
Knowledge & Experience
Essential
- Evidence of clinical competence in area of speciality e.g. Endoscopy
- Evidence of leadership experience and learning
- Awareness of recent advances within Nursing practice
- Knowledge of Clinical Governance and Safeguarding relevant to clinical practice, including policies & procedure guidelines
Desirable
- Experience of implementing changes to benefit patients and improve nursing practice
- Experience of budgetary management
- Knowledge of Ethical issues
