CAMHS has an exciting opportunity for a qualified and experienced Clinical Psychologist, Family Therapist or Child and Adolescent Psychotherapist to step into an established role within a diverse and experienced team.

Working as a CAMHS Clinical Lead in Southend, you would have comprehensive knowledge and significant experience of working with young people in a CAMHS service.

We are an effective, supportive and innovative team that cover the Southend area in Essex.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a dynamic individual who is passionate about helping young people and their families, interested in leading clinical developments with the team, supervising staff and supporting the manager to maintain and develop the highest standards of care and therapeutic support for the young people and their families who access our service. The clinical leads are expected to support the team and develop the delivery of care through supervision of some staff and by offering their input within MDT and leadership meetings.

The role of the Clinical Lead is to support a range of 1-1 therapies within the CYP IAPT model and as indicated by the NICE guidance.

You will have experience of supervising and managing others, you would alsohave akeen interestin developing innovative strategies to support young people and their families.

As well as holding a reduced case load, the Clinical Lead supports theirclinical team to delivertherapeutic interventions and continue development through supervision, teaching, and mentoring. Knowledge and experienceof delivering interventions withinchild mental health is essential.Additional therapeutic skills and training such as CBT, SFT, Family / Systemic, DBT and other counselling approaches is desirable.

Starting with NELFT

NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process, new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex.

Person Specification

qualification

Essential

  • Successful completion of a post-graduate training in psychological practice (e.g. psychologist, family therapist, child and adolescent psychotherapist)


Desirable

  • To be eligible for registration as a full member of the appropriate professional body (e.g. HCPC, ACP, AFT)


Experience

Essential

  • Extensive experience of working with children and adolescents with co-morbid difficulties and special needs. (i.e. combination of organic and emotional deficits, such as autistic spectrum disorders and trauma).


Desirable

  • Experience of using observation (eg. In school contexts) to contribute to assessments of children.


Experience ad skills

Essential

  • Experience with supervision, training and developing others


Desirable

  • Experience with quality and service Improvement
