This is a chance to secure a permanent post in our Children's Community Team, based at Conquest Hospital in Hastings. We provide nursing care and training for children within the surrounding area in a variety of settings including home, school, nursery etc.

You would be part of a strong and well established team of CCN's, who work jointly with the CCN team at Eastbourne District General Hospital, to provide care for children with both acute and chronic conditions across East Sussex.

We cover a large area, so being a competent car driver is essential for the role.

Main duties of the job

Your role as a Band 6 CCN would involve planning and managing the shared caseload, arranging visits and communicating with the wider multi-disciplinary team to ensure we provide the best quality care at home.

You will be involved with the teaching of carers, schools, nursery workers as needed, so that the patients can carry on as normal a life as possible.

You will be involved with the oncology caseload, including, as needed working in partnership with our local Children's Hospices to provide end of life care.

You will be involved in the protection of our families who have safeguarding issues, attending Conferences as appropriate and liaising with our safeguarding team.

Qualifications

Essential

• Registered Nurse Child branch (or equivalent) with current NMC registration
• Children's Community Nursing Specialist Degree
• ENB 998 mentorship level 3 or equivalent
• PALS trained
• Educated to degree level supplemented by diploma level specialist training or relevant equivalent training and experience

Desirable

• Additional related courses
• Non-medical prescriber
• Physical Assessment course

Experience

Essential

• Significant experience in paediatric nursing
• Previous experience of teaching and supervision of learners
• Previous experience of caring for sick children with complex needs
• Experience of Multi-agency Working
• Ability to manage own caseload and to demonstrate some change management skills in practice
• Experience of working with children, young people, adults and their families

Desirable

• Palliative care experience
• Community experience
