The Neurophysiology Department is sited within the Neuroscience group and provides a comprehensive range of investigations throughout Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust and where agreed to the wider health community.

The post holder will provide a highly specialised service in the Neurophysiology department undertaking and reporting on a wide range of diagnostics studies and procedures. They will undertake and perform diagnostic examinations to a high level of skill underpinned by specialist knowledge and practical experience. Supporting training and developing staff are also key areas of responsibility.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will provide a highly specialised service in the Neurophysiology department undertaking and reporting on a wide range of diagnostics studies and procedures. They will undertake and perform diagnostic examinations to a high level of skill underpinned by specialist knowledge and practical experience.

Responsible for the day-to-day management of the Neurophysiology service in the absence of the Head of Department in conjunction with other specialised and trainee Clinical Physiologists. Provide highly complex, specialist Clinical Neurophysiology service(s) to patients of all ages from a range of specialties suffering from a wide variety of medical disorders including those which may be neurological and/ or psychiatric in nature.

Qualifications

Essential

• Degree level or equivalent qualification /BSc in clinical physiology (Neurophysiology)
• Post graduate qualification e.g. , MSc or Post graduate diploma in Neurophysiology
• ANS Part I and II exam or equivalent
• State Registration -AHCS
• Membership of professional body - ANS and or BSCN , UK

Desirable

• Plus of Knowledge of specialist procedures acquired through specialist course or training / experiences or equivalent
• Adult Teaching qualification or willingness to work towards
• Previous leadership role
• Assessor qualification
• Management / Leadership qualification

Occupational experience and abilities

Essential

• In depth understanding of Neurophysiology
• Expert clinical skills and knowledge within speciality
• Demonstrate ability to prioritise own Workload
• Practical experience and familiarity with the range of basic and advanced Neurophysiological investigations i.e. EEG, including ambulatory Evoked Potentials Nerve conduction Studies Assisting EMG.
• Triage and prioritising of requests & Willingness to travel

Desirable

• Highly Specialised knowledge and practical experience of all aspects of neurophysiology
• Understanding of NHS targets & Management skills
• Able to prioritise and manage the section workload
• Able to exercise own initiative.
