An exciting opportunity has arisen to join Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, addressing the increased capacity needs in preparation for the upcoming opening of the Midlands Metropolitan University Hospital later this year.

In response to the anticipated rise in Emergency Department attendance from neighbouring areas, we are opening a new ward. Initially, this ward will cater to general medical patients, with the potential to expand and provide care for acute medical patients, presenting an exciting opportunity for growth.

The successful candidate will deliver high-quality, safe care to our patients. They will ensure the ward promotes a positive patient experience, manages timely admissions, adheres to safe practices, and facilitates efficient discharges.

We are looking for driven and ambitious individuals to join us.

Main duties of the job

As band 6 you are responsible for the coordination of shift and providing high quality care to a varied clinical presentations. You will identify patients requiring review by MDT and manage the facilitation of safe and prompt patient discharges.

Job responsibilities

The successful candidate will need to be passionate about providing quality care for every one with varying age and conditions promoting independence we want staff to make a difference, and become a valued member of our long established team.

The Post holder will be the clinical leader for the unit for spans of duty. As the leader you will take responsibility for the clinical management of the unit and the provision of nursing care in conjunction with Senior Sister and Matron.

He or She will assist in the supervision and education of qualified nurses and other staff in training. The post holder will be rostered on shifts to meet the need of the units (this include: days, nights weekends & bank holidays).

Acts in a manner that upholds the values of the Trust and that of the profession ensuring that service delivered contributes to supporting the principles of clinical governance.

Person Specification

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • First level registration
  • Current NMC registration
  • Evidence of undertaking a recognized course of study in teaching and assessing (ENB 998 or equivalent)
  • Educated to degree level or can demonstrate experience of operating at this level
  • Evidence of professional development and regular study since qualification


Experience

Essential

  • Experience as Band 5, in an acute hospital setting
  • Evidence of high -level clinical skills and knowledge
  • Evidence of managing infection prevention control within the clinical setting.
  • Able to manage resources
  • Able to network and establish working relationships to impact on collaborative working.
  • Evidence of effective leadership skills, training is desirable.
  • Able to conduct audit and implement change to improve patient experience of service.


Skills and Knowledge

Essential

  • Computer literate, knowledge of databases and data collation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Evidence of innovation in clinical services and/or clinical service development
  • Complex case management, able to identify and respond to priorities and emergencies
