Main duties of the job
The Perioperative Anaemia team at the University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust (UHS) are delighted to be able to offer a fantastic opportunity for a customer focussed, friendly and enthusiastic individual, as part of our expanding service.
The Perioperative Anaemia Service is seeking an experienced nurse, able to use critical thinking and expert decision making in order to identify, treat and optimise patients for surgery. Job responsibilities
- To work as an independent Practitioner under the supervision of the Senior Nurse Practitioner / Advanced Nurse Practitioner or Designated Medical Practitioner (DMP).
- Undertaking competency-based patient assessment and examination in order to formulate a management plan for specific groups of patients admitted to UHS for diagnosis and / or treatme
- Undertake all preparatory work prior to the patient undergoing treatment or diagnosis which may include consent, request of any further investigations and to highlight any potential complications to the Advanced Nurse Practitioner or relevant medical colleague.
- Ability to travel. The service is mostly based at Lymington New Forest Hospital but on occasions, the service might need to be run at Southampton General Hospital.

Qualifications / training required

- NVQ 2 in Pharmacy or other Level 2 approved GPhC qualification for pharmacy support staff or equivalent experience
- Supervisory qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience of supervision
Desirable
- 2 GCSE's or equivalent grades A* - C or 4-9 in English and Maths (If qualifications gained outside the UK evidence of equivalent standards must be demonstrated at interview)
- Other healthcare qualifications
- GCSEs in science-based or other role specific relevant subjects
Previous or relevant experience necessary
Essential
- Use of information technology in the workplace or within education or voluntary sector
- Standard keyboard skills
- Previous pharmacy experience (hospital or community) or supervisory experience

- Experience in stock control i.e., receiving, maintaining and / or issuing stock
