We are looking for an experienced nurse to join the team as a Band 6 infection control practitioner . The ideal candidate will have an interest in infection prevention and control, experience of working as an infection prevention and control nurse or a link worker is desirable but not essential. You will have an ability to build effective relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders. You must have the ability to work on your own initiative undertaking the day to day management of your clinical work, to be able to work with complex information and be able to demonstrate an ability to work to tight timescales.

Preventing and investigating healthcare associated infection remains a high priority within the Trust and in the public domain. North Bristol Trust one of the biggest Trust in the south west .
The post holder will provide clinical support regarding all aspects of Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) to Trust staff, supported by the IPC Nurse team. They will share the Infection Control workload with the Infection Control Nursing team and will be responsible for designated clinical areas/audits/surgical site surveillance within the infection control service. This will involve ensuring that infection prevention and control policies are up to date and adhered to by working closely with staff, demonstrating good practice, providing education and training and managing relevant projects.

Communication
To communicate effectively with patients, relatives, visitors and health care personnel at all levels and disciplines, in order to minimise the spread of infection.
To challenge standards of environmental and equipment cleaning, reporting findings and actions.
Investigate outbreaks of infection, with particular reference to source and mode of spread, and advise on measures of control.
Clinical Duties
Assess the risk of transfer and acquisition of micro-organisms and initiate appropriate action to prevent and control infection.
Policy and Service Development
To contribute to the development, review and update of evidence based policies, procedures and standards for group-wide implementation, to prevent and control infection. Additionally provide support to wards.
