Band 5 position on Day Surgery is over 5 days Monday to Friday inclusive 07-00 to 20-30. position holder will be responsible for the assessment of care needs, the planning, implementation and evaluation of nursing care.
To provide nursing care to patients who are admitted to the Day Surgery Unit for elective Day Surgery procedures.
To give support and ensure all patients are signposted to the relevant services post operatively.
To work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team ensuring patient safety is maintained at all times
Maintain his/her personal and professional development.
Participate in effective utilisation of resources.
Act in accordance with the NMC Professional Code of Conduct
Main duties of the job
To provide Safe admission and discharge of patients on the Day Surgery Unit. To provide Safe and effective pre and post-operative care to the patients who have undertaken Orthopaedic, ENT, Gynaecological, Urology , General Surgical and pain management procedures including transfer to and from theatre Department. Work flexible shifts for the needs of the service to ensure efficiency. Maintain proficient documentation at all times . Communicate in a professional and courteous manner within the multidisciplinary team. Support Junior members of the team including Students/cadets in a supervisory role. To support the senior nursing team by giving assurance around mandatory training, information governance and attendance. Support senior staff when absent from the unit.

Please note an NMC PRN PIN is not a full NMC PIN and would not fulfil the essential criteria for this role.
