Within a multi-disciplinary team assist in the co-ordination and delivery and development of a comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation and secondary/primary prevention programme as part of Wirral Community Cardiology Services across three main sites in Wirral.

Main duties of the job

Within a multi-disciplinary team, facilitate a comprehensive programme of exercise and education for those referred following cardiovascular event or diagnosis. The role will include managing a caseload of patients from referral though to discharge as well as the assessment of functional capacity and the prescription of exercise for a wide range of complexities. The role also involves working within the Tier 3 weight management service, delivering exercise guidance and assessment for those accessing the bariatric pathway.

Person Specification

Qualifications and professional training

Essential

• Minimum of 2:1 BSc in Exercise Physiology or closely related subject

Desirable

• Evidence of postgraduate study in relevant subject areas
• Exercise instructor qualifications
• Immediate Life Support qualification
• Member of British Association of Cardiac Prevention and Rehabilitation (BACPR)
• Ability to facilitate Exercise Tolerance Testing for diagnostic and prescriptive purposes

Experience and knowledge

Essential

• Experience of facilitating group and individual exercise sessions for different client/patient groups
• Experience of facilitating group education sessions
• Knowledge of the Nursing 6 C's
• Up to date knowledge of national and local strategies to reduce cardiovascular disease (CVD)

Desirable

• Experience of working within a cardiovascular rehabilitation setting
• Experience of managing a clinical caseload
