Within a multi-disciplinary team assist in the co-ordination and delivery and development of a comprehensive cardiac rehabilitation and secondary/primary prevention programme as part of Wirral Community Cardiology Services across three main sites in Wirral.
Main duties of the job
Within a multi-disciplinary team, facilitate a comprehensive programme of exercise and education for those referred following cardiovascular event or diagnosis. The role will include managing a caseload of patients from referral though to discharge as well as the assessment of functional capacity and the prescription of exercise for a wide range of complexities. The role also involves working within the Tier 3 weight management service, delivering exercise guidance and assessment for those accessing the bariatric pathway.

Qualifications and professional training
Essential
- Minimum of 2:1 BSc in Exercise Physiology or closely related subject
Desirable
- Evidence of postgraduate study in relevant subject areas
- Exercise instructor qualifications
- Immediate Life Support qualification
- Member of British Association of Cardiac Prevention and Rehabilitation (BACPR)
- Ability to facilitate Exercise Tolerance Testing for diagnostic and prescriptive purposes
Experience and knowledge
Essential
- Experience of facilitating group and individual exercise sessions for different client/patient groups
- Experience of facilitating group education sessions
- Knowledge of the Nursing 6 C's
- Up to date knowledge of national and local strategies to reduce cardiovascular disease (CVD)
Desirable
- Experience of working within a cardiovascular rehabilitation setting
- Experience of managing a clinical caseload
