An exciting opportunity has risen for a Band 5 staff nurse, on Trinity unit at Mount Vernon Hospital to expand our team on the elective Orthopaedic inpatient unit and mixed speciality Day care unit.
Mount Vernon Hospitals Treatment Centre is, due to its elective service, is a low risk site for infections.
We are looking for Band 5 nurse who wants a new challenge or who is newly qualified and looking to gain good experience in the surgical division. Experience of Orthopaedic, surgical or acute care is desirable but not essential. We are looking for nurses who have a passion for orthopaedic nursing and are keen to develop and learn. You must have strong communication skills and be a team player. You will be joining a team of dedicated nursing, medical and therapy staff
You will be expected to work alternating shifts involving long days and night duty. A full orientation will be given on induction to the ward. Newly qualified nurses will be supported by our established preceptor programme. There is opportunity for personal development for all staff as the trust offers in house training in venepuncture and cannulation, ECG interpretation, ALERT, ILS and the deteriorating patient study day to name a few.

Main duties of the job
1. Participate in all ward activities as an effective team member, supporting the Senior Sister/Charge Nurse and Sister, taking delegated team leadership responsibilities.
2. To assess care needs, and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
3. To teach and supervise qualified and unqualified staff, and to act as a rolemodel to junior staff.
4. To take responsibility and accountability for a group of patients.

Mount Vernon Hospital Treatment Centre is part of the Hillingdon Hospital trust and situated in rural Northwood on the outskirts of London and Hertfordshire, it is in easy access of the M25 and close to vital tube and bus links. The Metropolitan tube line is only a short bus ride or walk away.
The Trinity team cover both the 16 bedded elective orthopaedic inpatient area and the mixed speciality day care unit which are situated across the same floor. Trinity unit will be increasing the amount of elective orthopaedic surgery carried out daily as well as operating on a higher number of patients with complex medical conditions.
