We are looking for dynamic and skilled occupational therapists who demonstrate excellent communication skills within a multidisciplinary team environment.

You will be responsible for the assessment and treatment of a wide range of patients in whichever clinical area you will be working in.

Rotations cover the following specialities:
  • Frailty
  • Children's Integrated Therapies Service (CITS)
  • Acute Medicine & Surgery
  • Orthopaedics
  • Acute & Rehab of Older Adults
  • Neurology
  • The Stroke Unit

The post holder may work across the Hillingdon and Mount Vernon Hospital sites, as both are part of the same trust or for rotation out to our community partners CNWL.

We are looking for candidates with HCPC registration, who are hardworking, adaptable, possessing high level communication skills, initiative and self-motivation and can be flexible with their hours worked.

At Hillingdon and CNWL the Physiotherapy and Occupational Therapy services are fully integrated providing an exciting, friendly and supportive environment in which staff are encouraged to develop to their full potential.

All staff are expected to exemplify the Cares/CREP values.

Main duties of the job

1.To provide effective client centred occupational therapy service to patients who may have complex needs in your current area of rotation in accordance with the College of Occupational Therapists Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct.2. To devise, implement and evaluate individual treatment and interventions.3. To work effectively and efficiently on an individual and team level within a multi-disciplinary team and maintain clear communication networks with staff, patients, and carers.4. To build partnerships with and network with colleagues across health, social care andeducation with voluntary and statutory agencies, and work in partnership with relevant community resources.5. Participate in the inpatient physio and OT weekend working rota.

Essential

  • Diploma, Degree or Postgraduate Diploma in Occupational Therapy.
  • Current HCPC registration
  • Member of College of OT Specialist Section
  • Knowledge and application of the OT process in rotational settings, with an awareness of relevant models of practice.
  • Documented evidence of Continuing Professional Development Portfolio
  • Evidence of understanding of the consequences on ADL function and wellbeing as a result of short or long term changes in physical or mental health
  • Demonstrate understanding of the role of OT within the multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of adaptive and other specialist equipment.
  • Effective fluent written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Computer Literate.
  • Able to plan, deliver and evaluate individual OT programmes.
  • Ability to appropriately manage a clinical caseload prioritising as required.
  • Able to identify and implement appropriate and realistic OT goals


Desirable

  • Additional postgraduate qualification or honours degree.
  • Member of College of OT Specialist Section.
  • Voluntary work in a relevant setting.
  • Understanding of dynamics and complexities of the NHS environment.
  • Previous experience of being involved with service development initiatives.
  • Wider experience within the NHS
  • Proficiency in the use of IT applications to support efficient work activity
  • Demonstrate presentation and teaching skills
