The Joint Research Office (JRO) is responsible for managing a large, internationally-recognised portfolio of research activity.

An exciting opportunity has risen within the R& D finance team to join as an Assistant Cost and Management Accountant to provide a comprehensive financial management support to the Research & Development Directorate.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a highly motivated, committed and reliable individual with experience of working within a Finance department. You will be:o Technically competento Excellent communication skillso Highly organisedo Experience in Accounting packages - Oracleo Experience in Microsoft packageso Ability to work in partnership with a broad range of stakeholders including clinicians.o First degree or studying towards CCAB/CIMA/ ACCA professional Accountancy qualification.

Person Specification

Knowledge and Qualifications

Essential

  • Studying towards a CCAB/CIMA Professional Accountancy qualification or qualified by experience.
  • Knowledge of financial process & Practices gained through practical experience
  • Computer literacy in packages such as Excel and Word. Expected to design and create reports using spreadsheets and databases.
  • Possess numeracy & literacy skills - up to 'A level or equivalent.


Experience

Desirable

  • Experience of costing principles.
  • Understanding of NCVR, SoECAT and iCT
  • Demonstrate experience of management accounting, income & expenditure accounting, and financial reporting.
  • Demonstrate experience of assisting in negotiating agreements and contracts.
