Are you passionate and committed to equity and inclusion. we are looking for someone who will play a pivotal role in supporting the Associate Director of Health Equity, in developing, delivering and embedding equity diversity and inclusion initiatives across the organisation.

Working with a broad range of stakeholders, divisional groups and corporate functions, as well as external partners, patients and key stakeholders both internally and externally to achieve embed inclusion and equity.

Leading change in improvement initiatives engaging and motivating staff and harnessing the full potential of staff to ensure there is no experiential difference between groups of people based on any of the protected characteristics and beyond.

Ensuring patients and members of the public are always at the heart of services and positively impact upon the context and culture of the organisation - taking a system-based approach and supporting NHS staff to design and deliver great equitable and appropriate patient care.

Main duties of the job

o To manage relationships within the Trust and between the Trust and is partners locally and regionally ensuring excellent communication and working relationships are maintained and relevant information and data is available to inform and promote the delivery of health and workforce ED& I programmes. o To proactively work with clinical service leaders and health and social care professionals within the Trust and the wider health and care system to help reduce health inequalities in the populations we serve. o To proactively work in partnership with senior managers and staff networks to develop a Trust-wide ED& I service and long-term strategy that supports the Trust's clinical and workforce strategies and overall vision and objectives. o To function as the subject matter expert for interpreting ED& I standards, legislation, ensuring staff, clinical service and corporate support service leaders understand their collective and individual responsibilities. o To work with local and national partner organisations to promote reduction in health and workforce inequalities in Trust, system and national priority areas. o To contribute to the development and delivery of culture change imperatives in the Trust leadership and management development talent management approach and the staff performance management framework consistent with the vision and values of the organisation.

North Mid is part of North Central London integrated care system - consisting of the NHS and Local authority organisations in Camden, Islington, Barnet, Enfield and Haringey. As with other ICS's, we are working increasingly closely with partners and indeed many of our financial and performance objectives are measured at this system level. Whilst all organisations remain as standalone, statutory bodies we have an ICS infrastructure for making shared decisions and agreeing shared approaches.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Working in a consultancy capacity and act as an advisor to staff on Equity, diversity and inclusion for both staff and patients across the Trust.

Co-ordinate Equity & Diversity activity and reports specifically, workforce related including the Workforce Race Equality Standard (WRES), Workforce Disability Equality Standard (WDES), Gender and Ethnicity Pay Gap reporting, meeting our aspirations under the Fairness, Disability and Sexual Safety charters, Inclusive Mentoring, Inclusion Champions programme, Staff Networks, Disability Confident accreditation, Equality Delivery Standard (EDS2),and any other EDI related frameworks as appropriate.

Work with relevant staff to ensure EDI performance frameworks compliance and performance information sets are updated and accessible for the ED& I Strategic Oversight & Review Group members and meetings.

Provide advice and support to managers and clinicians in adjusting existing staff services and systems to ensure that the equality agenda is embedded into their respective areas.

Highlight needs/gaps and risks in EDI agenda bringing this information to the attention of the organisation.

Report on trends and outcomes from data gathered on issues relating to the EDI agenda.

Undertake audits of organisational processes to ensure robust application of equality and diversity principles.

Support the development of Equality & Diversity Strategy and Action Plan that addresses the needs of both staff and patients.

Ensure processes are implemented and maintained to facilitate business wide service planning, information sharing and dissemination of good practice across the Trust.

This will include:

To contribute to, support and lead meetings on, Equality & Diversity issues a required, which will include- attracting funding for Equality & Diversity initiatives within the Trust, project manage any Equality & Diversity initiatives including management of budgets attached, under the direction of the Associate Director for Health Equity, for special projects.

Ensure that the ED& I Strategic Oversight & Review Group is made aware of any new developments/ legislation/policy in relation to Equality & Diversity that impact on both workforce and patients and advise/lead on necessary changes.

Advice and support staff through training and 1:1 support, as required on compliance of legislative and statutory obligations.

To work with colleagues in the Organisational Development and Learning & Development teams on EDI related policies/protocols and coordinate staff learning and development to effectively assess and manage the specific EDI training and development needs of our staff.

To co-ordinate and maintain processes in relation to conducting robust Equality Impact Analysis (EIA), ensuring staff are aware of their legal obligations, through training, advice and support.

To support relevant staff-led equality network activities across the system.

Provide expert advice, information or signposting and provide a point of reference on all issues across the Trust relating to aspects of EDI.

To develop, compliment and contribute to any wider Trust Equality and Diversity programme of activity.

Work closely with the Staff Engagement and Communications teams, Staff side and any other relevant departments to support and deliver annual EDI events and activities programme to promote inclusion.

Deputies for the Associate Director for Health Equity at internal meetings and events as required.

To represent the Trust on relevant external learning events, conferences and networking opportunities.

Carry out any other duties which are commensurate with this grade.

  • Education degree level or related transferable experience.
  • Excellent IT skills advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications
  • Highly developed specialist knowledge in Equality, Diversity and Inclusion work procedures, underpinned by theory and experience.
  • Experience and/or demonstrated interest in improving workforce equality with knowledge of the WRES and WDES.
  • Knowledge of equality, diversity and inclusion policy agenda, legislation and best practice to level
  • Experience of conducting and/or advising on Equality Impact Analysis (EIAs) and Equality Deliver System (EDS)
  • Experience of planning and organising complex EDI activities or programmes of work
  • Experience of developing and delivering training to a wide range of internal audiences Ability to identify/research new developments in EDI and translate these into practical applications.
  • Ability to communicate highly complex/sensitive or contentious information to large groups as part of public or staff engagement, training or management development.
