This post is being offered as a Band 4 to 5 progression or Band 5 depending upon the candidates experience.
We have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated registered or soon to be registered Pharmacy Technician to join our forward-thinking team working within our medicines optimisation pharmacy service.
We are looking for a highly motivated, committed, and dedicated individual who is a strong team player with excellent time management, interpersonal, and organisational skills. You must be able to work well under pressure, have strong attention to detail and be an excellent communicator.
As a department our key focus areas for development are aimed at our medicines optimisation and sustainability agenda. The postholder will play a pivotal role in supporting us to achieve these priorities through completing drug histories, consulting with service users and carers regarding medicines, leave and discharge planning, utilising near patient dispensing and liaising with primary care to enable smooth transition post discharge.

Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work with the speciality pharmacists and all members of the MDT to co-ordinate all aspects of the patients medicines related journey, communicating effectively to ensure a safe, seamless and integrated transfer of care for our patients.
Key result areas include:
Supporting clinical teams with the supply, storage and management of medicines within inpatient areas.
Complete medicines history/reconciliation when patients are admitted into our care.
Provide information to patients and carers about their medicines and support adherence and understanding.
Work closely with clinical teams to plan and support timely leave and discharge, utilising near patient dispensing process to ensure medicines are received in a timely manner.
Support with transfer of care into primary care, utilising the DMS service and liaising with other healthcare professionals.
Participate in the accuracy checking rota within the dispensary.
Support the training and development of trainees.
Participate in the weekend and bank holiday rota

This is a post designed to meet the requirements of the pharmacy on the Fieldhead site.
To dispense medicines and provide technical support to the mental health pharmacy services including checking patients own medication on admission, the dispensing and supply of medication to specific patients and units including in-patient wards, forensic, learning disability and crisis services.
To ensure patients information leaflets are available on allocated units and in identified areas and keep all pharmacy information up to date
To ensure stocks of medicines are available on all allocated wards and departments through the topping up service.

Co-ordinate and manage the day-to-day workload in the dispensary. Provide immediate line management support for allocated staff (pharmacy technicians band 4, pharmacy assistants or student technicians)
Provide day to day line management for the dispensary staff
