University College London Hospitals is seeking to appoint a part-time Consultant in Neurology/Neurophysiology with an interest in Video-EEG telemetry with a commitment to high quality patient care, innovative service models, delivery of performance targets, and excellence in education/training.
Applications are invited for a Permanent consultant appointment in Neurology/Neurophysiology. The post is offered on a 2.5-session basis and provides an opportunity to join a dynamic, expanding department and to contribute to the multidisciplinary care of patients with epilepsy.
This role is based on the Jules Thornes Telemetry Unit at the NHNN and focused on the reporting of video-EEG telemetry studies. This position has arisen as a result of expansion of the video-EEG telemetry service at the NHNN to include home video-EEG studies. The post is located at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery.
The post-holder will be expected to provide expertise in EEG and video-telemetry studies, including diagnosis and pre-surgical assessment. The post-holder will be part of a multidisciplinary team (including consultant neurologists/neurophysiologists, clinical physiologists and wider members of the MDT). The post-holder will contribute to reporting of telemetry studies as well as occasional cross cover of ward duties. Time will also be given for supported professional activities.
CV required with application.
Main duties of the job
The appointee will be expected to participate in all activities of the Department including postgraduate teaching, clinical audit and research. They will be required to undertake clinical management duties and work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and to demonstrate clinical leadership.
The purpose of this role is to support the video-EEG telemetry (VT) service at NHNN, in particular to contribute to reporting of home and inpatient studies, with a particular focus on home diagnostic studies. This position has arisen as a result of an expansion in the service to provide VT at home for better patient experience and to improve waiting lists.
