This exciting opportunity has arisen for a talented individual with multiple skills and an appetite for delivering a first class nursing service to join the team in one of the UKs most successful and progressive NHS Foundation Trusts.

The successful applicant will be forward thinking and able to deliver specific and relevant specialist teaching programmes for all disciplines and grades of staff, client group and carers within the trust in relation to chemotherapy and support the MFT Cancer Strategy.

The Chemotherapy Nurse Specialist role will sit within the Corporate Cancer Services team and as such the suitable candidate will need to be able to work at a strategic level and should have an appreciation of the future development possibilities for chemotherapy services.

Due to the nature of MFT and the delivery of both paediatric and adult chemotherapy, applications are very much welcomed from nurses with either an adult or paediatric background.

Main duties of the job

Support education and training for registered nursing staff working across the Trust in the delivery of chemotherapy administration in all areas across MFT.

To ensure that the nursing workforce working within the clinical areas that administer Chemotherapy are supported to attain the necessary competencies to support a safe, quality and effective practice.

S/he will provide specialist expertise and advice demonstrating a sound understanding of the issues related to the identification, assessment, treatment and management of chemotherapy for both adults and children within the Trust

To lead and coordinate the delivery of nurse education and training across the organisation around the administration of Chemotherapy.

Champion service development and innovation to support teams in augmenting and driving forward the chemotherapy services of MFT.

Qualifications

Essential

  • NMC registration (RN Adult, RN Child)
  • Educated to 1st degree level
  • Teaching qualification or willingness to undertake


Desirable

  • Evidence of level 7 studies
  • Experience in specialty


Experience

  • Experience at Band 6
  • Evidence of delivering teaching programmes to staff groups.
  • Experience in working across professional and organisational boundaries
