Band 6 Occupational Therapist - Burns and Plastics
Chelsea and Westminster Hospital
We have an exciting opportunity to work in the burns and plastics team at Chelsea and Westminster hospital.
The post holder will join a dynamic and highly skilled team and will have the opportunity to cover a wide scope of settings from ICU to community rehabilitation of burns patients. We are looking for a dynamic Occupational Therapist with excellent assessment and treatment skills who is keen to learn.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will join a dynamic and highly skilled team and will have the opportunity to cover a wide scope of settings from ICU to community rehabilitation of burns patients. We are looking for a dynamic Occupational Therapist with excellent assessment and treatment skills who is keen to learn.
The position is split between inpatient and outpatient care and following up patients care into the community to complete their rehabilitation journey. The successful applicant must be competent and efficient at patient assessment, formation of treatment plans as well as having teaching and supervision skills.

Job description
Essential
- BSc or Diploma in Occupational Therapy
- Evidence of on-going CPD since qualification
- Evidence of working as a qualified therapist in the UK NHS system (or equivalent public health system)
- Experience working as a qualified therapist in burns and/or plastics and/or hand therapy
- Ability to clinically reason the application of assessment and treatment interventions used in a variety of settings and complexity of conditions
- Understands the professional and legal responsibilities of this profession
- Demonstrates awareness and sensitivity to cultural differences and beliefs.
- Evidence of ability to manage time, prioritisation and clinical caseload
- Competent with different assessment and outcome measures including both cognitive and physical measures.
- Demonstrates the ability to effectively communicate, both written and orally, in a clear and logical manner.
- Identifies own personal characteristics that contribute to effective team working.
Desirable
- Supervision and teaching of assistants, students or other members of the MDT
- Experience working in scar management.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills in assessment and treatment of hand injuries
