As The Head of Nursing for Quality Safety and Compliance (QSC), you will be the deputy for the Head of QSC. You will support the Head of QSC in the implementation and delivery of PSIRF and ensure clinical scrutiny of Divisional Governance Frameworks and policies ensuring safe and effective strategic awareness across both of our Hospital Sites.

Main duties of the job

Ensure clinical credibility and lessons learned are a focus to ensure we uphold a transparent and ethical approach to all elements of governance maintaining our agreed high standards are Trust Values.

Establish systems and processes to provide assurance to the Clinical Governance Triumvirate that high quality care is being delivered and where things have gone wrong, adopt an approach that focuses on continued shared learning and improvements.

Provide management expertise and be managerially responsible for the Harm Free Care Team, The Clinical Excellence Framework(CEF), The Divisional Quality Support Managers (DQSM's) and support the Head of Clinical Effectiveness with any auditable programmes of work.

Live our Trust Values and ensure the team are valued, developed and supported in all they do.

Support the delivery of agreed corporate programmes of work and ensure National Agendas are implemented.

Deputise for the Head Of QSC as requested and participate in Trust Silver on Call Rota

Job responsibilities

Act as a role model, maintaining and upholding high standards of professional behaviour and maintaining own clinical professional accountability

Promote a positive image of both Leadership and Nursing inside and external to the Trust

Represent the Trust at a national or regional level through membership of working groups, publications or conference presentations as required

Deputise for the Head of QSC and ensure they are briefed on all professional issues that have impact on Clinical Governance or QSC.

Participate in corporate, divisional and associated meetings.

Participate in the Trusts General Management Silver on call rota

Promote safe practices and robust clinical governance and patient safety systems with a particular focus on embedding the principles of the NHS Patient Strategy, National Standards for Patient Safety Investigation and the Patient Safety Incident Response Framework.

To manage the development and implementation of the Trusts Patient Safety Incident Response Plan and the management of patient safety incident investigations (PSII) process where the potential for harm or harm has occurred, including working with external reviewers.

To act as one of the Trusts Patient Safety Specialists directly supporting the Head of Quality, Safety & Compliance on leading patient safety investigations and learning.

Work with the Head of QSC to embed systems to deliver high standards of safe care based on best practice and clear evidence.

Identify risks and support in implementing action plans to mitigate them as well as alerting the Head of QSC and relevant Divisional Nurse Directors.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Educated to degree level of equivalent
  • NMC Registered


Experience

Essential

  • Experience and trained in Patient safety Investigation techniques / human factors
  • Knowledge and experience of the NHS Quality & Safety strategies and Improvement methodology


Desirable

  • Expereince of liaisng with staff and patients/families following patient safety incidents and investigations
