We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, innovative and dynamic band 6 Senior Cardiac Physiologist to join our ever developing Cardio-Respiratory department at Glangwili General Hospital. The role includes utilising existing knowledge and skills to undertake a lead role in performing and interpreting non-invasive diagnostic tests and a secondary role in highly complex procedures. The role is a 6 month fixed term, full-time post with opportunity to work flexible hours within the working week.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be required to work independently, on their own initiative to ensure the effective provision of investigations. To recognise and act on urgent results whilst liaising with medical and nursing colleagues to ensure correct action is taken. They will advise on complex issues and results.

They will deliver an ambulatory BP and ECG monitoring service by preparing and issuing devices for patients. They will interpret the results to produce clinical reports.

The post holder will perform and interpret exercise tolerance tests with or without medical supervision, taking full responsibility for patients' safety throughout. They will recognise and act appropriately in an emergency.

They will assist with pacing implants and deliver a cardiac device follow-up service within their own knowledge and capability. This will be under the supervision of senior colleagues.

The post holder will perform and interpret ECG's on a range of patients in emergencies/ routine situations and advise clinicians on urgent findings.

They will also record routine and urgent observations during patient's assessments e.g. blood pressure and oxygen saturation levels. They will take appropriate action.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Knowledge

Essential

  • BSc in Cardiac Physiology Or equivalent, i.e.- HTEC or BTEC MPPM
  • Registration Council for Clinical Physiologist (RCCP) or Health Care Professions Council (HCPC)


Desirable

  • Association for the Society of Cardiological Science and technology (ASCST) examination
  • Recognised qualification in teaching or mentorship
  • Recognised certificate in leadership
  • European computer driving licence
  • NSPE/HRUK/BSE certificate


Experience

Essential

  • Experience and competence of performing the range of cardiac investigations outlined in Job description or is working towards obtaining competency in any of the specialist roles


Desirable

  • Experience of leading audit and quality control
  • Experience of leading a team


Language Skills

Desirable

  • Welsh Speaker (Level 1)


Other

Essential

  • Ability to travel between sites in a timely manner
  • Flexible approach to needs of the service
