We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic qualified Ophthalmic Photographer to join our dedicated Imaging team. This is an exciting opportunity where you will be essential in providing high quality diagnostic services to assist clinicians to diagnose, monitor and treat complex eye conditions. As technology has advanced and the imaging service is expanding this is a rare opportunity to join a knowledgeable and technically skilled team. Main duties of the job

This role will provide comprehensive diagnostic services to the Eye Infirmary as part of the imaging team.

We are looking for a highly motivated, dynamic, enthusiastic individual with a keen interest in learning and developing. You should hold a degree level qualification in Clinical Photography/Ophthalmic Imaging or equivalent experience.

We are a very busy, faced paced service so you should be able to work calmly and confidently under pressure.

You should be technically minded, show a keen attention to detail and demonstrate a strong commitment to high standards of patient care. You should have a passion for patient-centred care and demonstrate behaviours that reflect our trust values. You will work closely with all members of the multidisciplinary team and should have experience and skills in teamwork and be able to demonstrate your ability to work effectively as part of a team.

The Ophthalmology Directorate, within which this post is based overall comprises 282 staff from a diverse set of professional backgrounds working into a number of sub specialities including: Cataract Treatment Centre, Theatres, Diabetic Retinal Screening, Eye Emergency Department, Macular, Paediatrics, Optometry and Orthoptists who provide a range of services within the inpatient and outpatient settings.

The service currently operates Monday to Friday 8am 8pm however the occasional weekend working may be required to support service elective recovery.

To support in providing a professional cost effective, efficient clinical and non clinical photographic service using digital technologies to service the Trusts three sites.

To ensure a high technical standard to aid in clinical assessment, patient records, teaching, research and publication purposes.

To perform administrative tasks as necessary for the efficiency of the service.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • BSc in Medical Illustration / or equivalent experience.
  • Registrable qualification in clinical/ophthalmic photography (PgCert Clinical Photography)


Desirable

  • IMI or OIA
  • membership


Experience

Essential

  • Minimum of 1 years experience working within an ophthalmic photography department
  • Competence with SLR camera photography


Desirable

  • Evidence of understanding of the NHS


Skills and Knowledge

Essential

  • Have demonstrable computer skills and familiarity with ophthalmic imaging software (Heidelberg, Topcon etc.)
  • Demonstrate the ability to work in a team.
  • Desire to learn.
  • Ability to prioritise own work load
  • The candidate must have a high level understanding of matters surrounding confidentiality, consent and data protection in a healthcare setting.
  • Ability to communicate health related information in an understandable way to patients and colleagues, adapting communication style to meet individual needs.
  • Basic skills of empathy and reassurance
  • The ability to undertake self-directed study to enable completion of any further training in an efficient and timely manner.


Desirable

  • Ability with Adobe Photoshop and video editing software
  • Willing to undertake further training related to the role
