Pancreatitis Nurse Specialist
A secondment opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Pancreatitis Nurse Specialist to join the Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) team. The Pancreatitis Nurse Specialist is part of a multi-professional approach in caring and managing patients with pancreatitis across HPB.
The Pancreatitis CNS is required to support patients during their inpatient stay, helping patients to understand more about their condition. The Pancreatitis CNS is also a crucial part of the monthly Chronic Pancreatitis Clinic, which undertakes an MDT approach to assessing and implementation of care needs. The Pancreatitis CNS will also need to navigate the patient through their treatment pathway to support their complex needs. This service also aims to improve communication of treatments and care planning, including excellent information provision.
The post would suit an individual that is assertive, can work autonomously and able to manage a busy workload. It would be beneficial for the candidate to have experience and good understanding with managing complex needs/long term conditions. The applicant may have some experience with developing a service and may wish to develop their skills/experience further.
This post is a 9 month secondment to cover maternity leave. There is potential for this to be extended. An insight visit is strongly recommended.
Main duties of the job
The post is based at the QMC Campus in a variety of settings that include inpatients, clinics and contact with patients remotely. The successful candidate will participate in the Chronic Pancreatitis Clinic, in the Nottingham Treatment Centre with other members of the MDT (Consultants and Dietician). The role also includes elements of training, health promotion, offering advice and support to patients in relation to this condition. The Pancreatitis Nurse will be expected to attend a weekly Pancreatic Imaging Review Meeting (PIRM).
