The Head of Innovation Adoption and Collaboration will position CUH as a national leader in the effective adoption of novel health technologies and the go-to NHS Trust for companies seeking a partner to co-develop or prove the value of their products.

Main duties of the job

You will lay out a process for identifying and prioritising the most promising innovations - both externally developed or available within the Epic electronic health record environment - that meet CUH's strategic objectives and, working with procurement, commercial and e-hospital teams, define the routes by which we can engage the market to ensure value for money and maximal impact. You will subsequently scope programmes of change to ensure new solutions integrate seamlessly into clinical and operational workflows, that user take-up is high, and that tangible benefits are realised. You will also foster relationships between the Trust, our clinical and operational teams, and companies operating at the leading edge of healthcare technology, in order to facilitate collaborations that develop novel solutions that meet the needs of the Trust and our patients, but also present wider commercial opportunities.

The ideal candidate will have a deep awareness of the latest developments in health technology, the constraints to adoption in the NHS and demonstrate an ability to overcome these through personal experience. They will combine a good understanding public-private collaborations with strong programme management skills, with a record of their application on technological implementation.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Bachelor's +/- post-graduate qualification at master's level (e.g., MBA or MSc) in a relevant field


Desirable

  • Post-doctoral education or equivalent experience in an innovative research or industry role, demonstrating academic rigor in the context of evaluation and research principles


Experience

Essential

  • Management experience at senior level in a large, complex Health or Health related organisation
  • Significant experience of developing and delivering innovative healthcare solutions from MVP build to broader scale-out
  • Experience of working with multi-disciplinary teams across innovation topics (e.g., Product, Design, Engineering, and Growth)
  • Managing large scale complex programmes and projects at a senior management level using recognised methodology, including use of project management techniques, and tracking and monitoring their implementation. Identifying and managing risks, issues and dependencies.
  • Experience of managing project budgets, including knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation and an ability to negotiate to secure investments to enable innovation to be taken forward
  • Experience of developing and implementing organisational communication and engagement strategies
  • Experience managing highly complex competing priorities and delivering on time with restricted resources
  • In-depth knowledge of the current healthcare landscape in the NHS
  • Identifying, initiating and maintaining project and partnership activity with other organisations, public and private sector, and maximising relations with relevant parties and services (from inception to completion through to alliance management).
  • Reporting complex information and data- verbally, in papers and in presentations


Desirable

  • Consulting experience in Innovation or Digital Transformation, ideally with exposure to healthcare and/or the NHS
  • Experience of leading strategy development and project orchestration in a health related setting and across multi-stakeholder environments
  • Employment in corporate environments ideally in invention and/or health-tech

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to negotiate, build understanding, construct persuasive arguments to gain buy in to ideas
  • Knowledge of innovation methods, processes, tools and best practice, with the experience of implementing them. Ability to share approaches with others.

  • Ability to analyse complex data, from a range of sources to evaluate innovation initiatives against criteria to identify initiatives for further development.
