We have a unique and exciting opportunity for an experienced nurse leader in the Corporate Safeguarding team. We are a friendly and supportive team who are seeking a self motivated and experienced lead practitioner and Named Nurse to lead the UHB in discharging the statutory responsibilities to safeguard children from abuse and neglect.
The post holder will provide advanced skills and competencies to influence and support the delivery of the operational and strategic priorities for safeguarding children in Hywel Dda University Health Board. They will provide safeguarding and relevant professional leadership and ensure the provision of expert advice across the whole of HDUHB including primary care.
The successful post holder will work as part of the corporate UHB Safeguarding Team at both a strategic and operational level, providing strong leadership and in partnership with other agencies, reporting to the Head of Safeguarding.
We can support a hybrid model of working.
Main duties of the job
The Corporate Safeguarding and Looked After Children teams work closely together to ensure all age prevention, identification, assessment and response to those affected by abuse and neglect, domestic and sexual violence within the UHB.
The post holder will manage the Specialist Safeguarding Children Practitioners and will work in close partnership with a range of internal and external statutory and non-statutory agencies. These include Local Authority partners Dyfed Powys Police Mid and West Wales Regional VAWDASV Strategic and Delivery Groups the NHS Wales VAWDASV Network Mid and West Wales Regional Adult and Children Safeguarding Board and other groups as appropriate.
The post holder will be a lead specialist in their field, and able to work autonomously but in close liaison with the Named Doctor, and Head of Safeguarding.
They will oversee the implementation of relevant safeguarding and public protection legislation and guidance.
They will support and advise colleagues in the clinical assessment and care of children and young people and take an all age approach where there are safeguarding/child protection concerns as part of own role, whilst being clear about others personal clinical professional accountability.

- Master's degree or equivalent experience with current NMC registration
