Main duties of the job

• Ability to work collaboratively and in partnership with agencies such as Youth Offending, Police, Birmingham Children Trust.
• To manage a caseload of young people referred to the service, working collaboratively with the Youth Offending Team, Police, Birmingham Childrens Trust.
• Be a suitably qualified professional(Nurse, Social Worker, Occupational Therapist, Speech and Language Therapist)
• To be able to identify risk, inform and promote decision making around Young People with complex care or safeguarding needs (mental health, county lines, exploitation and abuse, substance misuse, homelessness, learning disability)
• To be a strong team player and able to work autonomously
• To work in partnership with young people, families/ carers with regarding decision making and planning to help them to make informed decisions, to enable them to clarify and express their needs and to co-produce solutions.

Our team aim to:

• Improve access to healthcare and support services for vulnerable individuals and a reduction in health inequalities
• Divert individuals, where appropriate, out of the youth and criminal justice systems into health, social care or other supportive services
• Deliver efficiencies within the youth and criminal justice systems
• Reduce re-offending or escalation of offending behaviours

Job responsibilities

This is an exciting and dynamic role incorporating clinical assessment skills, community outreach work, case load management and close working with our partnership agencies including The Aston Villa Foundation.

The successful candidate will be working predominantly in the community across Birmingham and at a range of bases including Police Custody, Birmingham Courts and HMP Birmingham.To build a trusting relationship to develop a deeper understanding of the needs of young people and be able to signpost or refer to more appropriate services. This role will involve outreach into the community to meet young people in their own or choice of environment.We are looking to welcome a versatile and motivated individual who has experience working with young people in the community. The ideal candidate will be confident in identifying and managing risks, in order to help deliver a diversionary service to vulnerable young people who are often most at risk of exploitation and violence within our community.

To build a trusting relationship to develop a deeper understanding of the needs of young people and be able to signpost or refer to more appropriate services. This role will involve outreach into the community to meet young people in their own or choice of environment.

• Current Professional Registration - HCPC, RLDN, RNM

Experience

Essential

• Experience of working in youth or safeguarding services as a qualified professional
• Experience in independently assessing risk for young people

Desirable

• Experience in caseload management
• Experience working collaboratively with other agencies or professionals
• Extensive post qualification experience within community and/or forensic services

Knowledge

Desirable

• Demonstrates an understanding of serious youth violence and exploitation
• Experience supporting junior members of staff
