We are excited to recruit a Full time Acute Medicine/SDEC ACP in the Bristol Royal Infirmary on an 80/20 job plan. We are a Team of 4 currently, two qualified AP and x 2 trainees however one member of our team is relocating and therefore we will recruit into this post. The Job plan includes 80% clinical with 20% off the shop floor you will support the medical team/trainees/service provision/rota/education/research/audit/QIP ensuring continued development across all 4 pillars of Advanced Practice. You will have an active role supporting the trainees. Ideally you will work across the department including clinic/take team and ward support. However if we are unable to recruit a qualified Acute Medicine/SDEC ACP we may consider a trainee post band 7.

As a trainee you will be required to enrol on an approved ACP Apprenticeship or eportfolio route. You will be required to have an active eportfolio to evidence your competence across the acute med curriculum working towards qualification over a period of 3 dependent on academic and clinical experience, achieving a band 8a at the end. As a trainee it is expected you will work 30hrsclinical a week with 7.5hrs off shop floor. You will be allocated an educational supervisor, be well organised, IT savvy and have an excellent record of professional conduct. The successful candidate will expect regular educational teaching, short placements for learning opportunities in other areas of practice e.g. ED and ITU.

Main duties of the job

Clinical Pillar:

Practice at a high level of clinical expertise in assessing and diagnosing patients who present to Acute Medicine.

Demonstrate a critical understanding of your broadened level of responsibility and autonomy and the limits of your own competence and professional scope of practice including working with complexity, risk and incomplete information.

Act on professional judgement about when to seek help, demonstrating critical reflection on your own practice, self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and openness to change.

Leadership Pillar:

Pro-actively initiate and develop effective relationships in and between multidisciplinary teams fostering clarity of roles within teams to encourage productive working

Role model the values of the organisation, demonstrating a person-centred approach to service delivery and development.

Evaluate your own practice and participate in MDT service and team evaluation, demonstrating the impact of advanced clinical practice on service function and effectiveness, and quality (outcomes of care, experience and safety).

Actively engage in peer review to transform your own and others practice, formulating and implementing strategies to act on learning and make improvements

Qualifications and Training

Essential

  • Registered Health Care Professional
  • NMC/HCPC/GCP/GPhC Registration
  • Completed Advanced Practice Masters and mapped to apprenticeship standard i.e. Digital Badge if not apprenticeship
  • Accredited portfolio mapped to acute medicine curriculum
  • Evidence of formal ongoing professional development
  • Evidence of teaching, supervision and assessment skills
  • Non-Medical Prescribing NMP
  • ALS willing to undertake


Desirable

  • IRMER Education
  • CORE (Level 1) ultrasound course
  • ALS


Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Recent significant experience at band 8a or equivalent in acute Medicine clinical setting
  • Proven leadership and management experience in acute Medicine
  • Proven evidence of educational support to others
  • Demonstrated ability to support colleagues
  • Experience or sound knowledge of change management as part of a leadership role
  • Ability to organise and prioritise own workload effectively
  • Change management and ability to present ideas effectively
  • Familiar with current local and national issues


Desirable

  • Undertaken research as a chief or principle investigator
