We have an exciting opportunity for Band 5 Occupational Therapists (OT) to join the rotational scheme within UCLH NHS Foundation Trust.We are looking for dynamic and motivated OT's with excellent communication skills and an innovative and flexible approach. This role provides an excellent opportunity to consolidate your knowledge and gain new clinical skills within a supportive, friendly environment.

This rotational post covers an acute hospital (UCLH) and Neurology (National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery). Rotations are six-months and some rotations cover 7-day services.

Rotations include:OrthopaedicsHaematologyElderly MedicineAcute Therapy (A& E/Acute Medical Unit)NeurosurgeryNeuro Rehab (ABRU)Neuro Rehab Unit (NRU)Surgery

We welcome applications from qualified OTs and OT students who have received their final year results / awaiting HCPC registration and are looking for those who can demonstrate relevant hospital experience (including autonomous decision making, acute assessment, discharge planning, and high-level communication and interpersonal skills).We have established, supervision, training and continuing professional development opportunities to support the development of our staff.

Main duties of the job

o Provide high quality Occupational Therapy input including assessment, treatment and advice to patients in a variety of settings.o Demonstrate strong communication skills with a range of stakeholders including patient's family members and MDTo Provide patient centred care to ensure a holistic and individualised treatment/intervention is deliveredo Perform safe manual handling tasks, fitting and delivery of ADL equipment, and basic IT skills.o Participate in evidence-based audits and service development projects in conjunction with the Senior Therapists (OT/PT) in order to ensure high standards of care & service development are maintained and improved.o Demonstrate time management and prioritisation skills to effectively manage own caseloado Responsible for accurate and timely documentation in line with RCOT and trust guidelineso Compliance with the Trust's Equal Opportunities Policy. Person Specification

Knowledge and Qualifications

Essential

  • Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy
  • HCPC registration in Occupational Therapy (Actual or Pending)


Desirable

  • RCOT Membership (Actual or Pending)


Experience

Essential

  • Completion of core student placements including: Care of the Older person, Neurology/Rehabilitation, Mental Health
  • Knowledge of general conditions seen in Occupational Therapy including Dementia, orthopaedics, neurological and care of the older person
  • Experience of working in a Health or Social Care setting


Desirable

  • A wide range of student placements including: oncology, orthopaedics, community, Mental Health


Skills and Abilities

Essential

  • Excellent time management and organisational skills including prioritisation and delegation.
  • Involvement in learning contracts/appraisal scheme
  • Knowledge of professional organisations
  • Competent IT skills for communication and presentation of information


Desirable

  • Evidence of working as an autonomous practitioner in a supportive environment.


Communication

Essential

  • Able to present written and spoken English in a clear and logical manner including the ability to meet UCLH Trust documentation guidelines


Desirable

  • To effectively advocate for patients and communicate outcome of OT assessments in meetings e.g. ward handover& case conferences
