We are delighted to offer you an opportunity to join our Award-Winning, nationally recognised Stroke Services to work as part of our Multi-disciplinary Team (MDT) as a HCPC Registered, Specialist Speech and Language Therapist. This is a new service model which offers a significant opportunity to develop and implement high quality care pathways and MDT training plans, contributing to building a culture of research and development, with strong links to our local community and local universities supported by an invested interest in improving Stroke Rehabilitation. You will be a highly motivated and competent clinician who is equipped to work autonomously across both our hospital and community Stroke provisions. You will need to be skilled in dysphagia to support adults with an acquired range of swallowing and communication difficulties who is willing to work flexibly with colleagues to meet service need. If you do not currently hold this competency we will consider offer dysphagia training as part of your development plan. This is predominantly a clinical facing post but may have the opportunity to include some innovative remote working and virtual appointments.Due to the nature of the role you will need to be able to sufficiently travel across a large geographical area. Main duties of the job
You will support patients in a bed based stroke specialist unit and being discharged into the community facilitating a smooth and timely transition from hospital to home. In addition, providing support with community visits to patients' homes, community hospitals and care home settings.
As part of your role you will expected to:
Have a detailed professional and clinical knowledge and have a focus in one of the following areas adult acquired communication disorders and dysphagia and/or adults with neurological conditions.
Work within a varied role and responsibilities will include specialist assessment, therapy and management for our stroke population.
Support service development, training and research opportunities alongside excellent peer support will be available as part of the Haywood Hospital Therapies Portfolio and the Adult SLT team.
Be skilled in the assessment of complex/specialist care/support needs and in the development, implementation and evaluation of care/support packages.
Have supervisory, training and leadership responsibilities where appropriate and will have some responsibility for team performance and service developments/improvements.

- Degree in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent.
- Registration with HCPC Post Graduate RCSLT accredited dysphagia course or equivalent.
- Post qualification courses in communication disorders Attendance at relevant Clinical Excellence Networks.
- Up to date field work/pre-registration student training.
Desirable
- Modules at Masters level Evidence of further clinical study.
