To work as part of the Multi-professional team providing a high standard of antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal midwifery care to women and their families within the integrated maternity service. To work as part of a continuity of care team or rotate within all clinical areas within maternity services to support professional development and maintain safe standards of midwifery care in line with service provision.
Main duties of the job
The management of the maternity team to ensure that the Trust delivers safe, high quality, effective patient-centered care that is efficient, timely, caring, compassionate and equitable within the scope of their practice as part of the multidisciplinary team.
To provide management and leadership so that standards of practice are maintained, reviewed and continuously developed.
To co-ordinate the clinical education, clinical support and skill development of junior and newly qualified midwives, students and health care assistants by providing leadership and mentorship and creating an environment for effective learning.
Work as an autonomous practitioner to provide and coordinate the highest standard of care for women.

- Evidence of continuing professional development
- Practice/Assessor/Mentor Qualification

- Degree Level Qualification working towards Masters
Knowledge and Experience
Essential
- 3 - 4 Years as a Band 6 rotational midwife
- Extensive knowledge of specialist areas, acquired through post graduate diploma or equivalent experience
- CPD - Evidence of post qualifying and continuing professional development
- Clinically competent with a range of skills to include: suturing, cannulation and water birth
- Ability to practice clinically in all areas of a fully integrated maternity service
- Able to scrub for LSCS
