An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced midwife to join our enthusiastic and committed community midwifery team. You will be leading a team who are committed to the on-going promotion of women-centred care and the recommendations from better births. Main duties of the job

Band 7 Team Leader for Community Midwives

As a team leader you will co-ordinate the team and use your knowledge and experience to support the midwives in the team. You will case load your patients, providing continuity and support.

Person Specification

EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • Registered Midwife
  • Evidence of continuing professional development and its application


Desirable

  • Diploma / Degree level
  • NLS course


EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Recent experience at Band 6
  • Experience in all areas of Midwifery with evidence of recent comprehensive home birth and community experience
  • Can demonstrate leadership skills and initiative


Desirable

  • Team leader/line manager experience including HR policy knowledge


SKILLS, ABILITIES & KNOWLEDGE

Essential

  • Clinical Skills ie perineal suturing, IV Cannulation
  • Ability to act as a PA/PS for students
  • Excellent communication skills with all members of the team, patients and relatives
  • Good verbal and written English which can be evidenced at interview
  • Demonstrates effective management in the clinical environment
  • Awareness and respect for colleagues, patients and relatives cultural, religious and emotional needs and beliefs


Desirable

  • Evidence of managerial development
  • IT literate on Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Experience of roster management
  • Experience of involvement in clinical audit


SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES

Essential

  • Ability to drive and cover night on-calls for birth setting
