The ENT team at Imperial is delighted to offer this exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate nurse to join the Rhinology team to undertake the Clinical Nurse specialist role.

This role is pivotal to the Rhinology patient pathway and serves to improve patient experience by providing a single point of contact for patients and by delivering nurse-led clinics to ensure timely assessments and follow ups. The role will provide autonomy while working in close collaboration with a well-established internationally renowned team.

We are looking for an experienced ENT nurse who will use their knowledge and skills to provide expert, efficient and safe patient care under guidance of Consultant Rhinologists. Prospective candidates must be able to demonstrate evidence- based practice, passion and ambition and to be able to work collaboratively with the wider ENT team.

Main duties of the job

As a Clinical Nurse Specialist you will deliver high quality specialist nursing in Rhinology to increase governance for the high-risk pathways, improve clinic capacity, collect audit data, improve current standards, act as a resource to Rhinology team, and provide education to staff and patients and to action MDT outcomes.

The proposed timetable will include nurse-led Rhinology clinics to increase outpatient capacity and reduce clinic waiting time.

You will support the complex Rhinology pathway by coordinating pre-operative work up and plans including:

o Collecting relevant scans undertaken at the Royal Brompton Hospital

o Supporting patients with complex conditions prioritizing and mitigating against emergency admissions.

o Arranging pre-operative admission at the patient's local hospital, coordinating transfer to and from ICHT for surgery with subsequent medical recovery other specialist care providers.

o Advising patients on medical optimization for surgery.

You will also provide bespoke education for nursing staff and other learners to support patient care & management plans associated complex nursing care for patients undergoing Rhinology and skull base surgery.

You will engage in quality improvement work to support continues service improvement and utilise research to improve patient outcomes.

Education/ Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered Nurse of degree level education.


Desirable

  • Master's degree or working towards a mater's qualification.


Experience

Essential

  • Extensive relevant clinical experience -ENT, theatres or endoscopy.
  • Management of staff and a service.
  • Proven achievement at band 6 or 7 level.
  • Active Participation in development initiatives.
  • Formal and Informal Teaching.


Desirable

  • Project management
  • Experience as specialist nurse
  • Participation in nurse led clinic
  • Publications and Presentations


Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities

  • Proven leadership ability.
