Brackley Community Hospital
Ward Sister - Band 6
Full time including rotation to night duty
Brackley Community Hospital 16 bedded unitresponding to patients with long-term conditions, rehabilitation needs and some step up from the Community to avoid acute hospital admission.
Main duties of the job
As a Band 6 Ward Sister you would be responsible for managing a team of patients within the ward which would include all nursing assessments on admission, providing clinical expertise whilst an inpatient through to complex discharge planning to achieve a successful discharge for patients. You would also be involved with staff development by carrying out appraisals and supervision and developing their personal developing plans, acting as a mentor for students and providing on the job training to all ward based staff. You would also be involved in managing the ward such as staff management in areas such as rostering and human resources with support from the Ward Matron and in her absence. The Trust has an excellent leadership development programme which you would also be encouraged to attend as well as further developing your clinical skills in a nurse lead service out of hours.
Multi-disciplinary working is key to successful discharge planning individuals are required to be highly motivated, forward thinking with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Good literacy and IT skills are essential as the ward maintain electronic patient records.
