An exciting opportunity has arisen at our North Central London Division for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join a well established Unplanned Care Therapy Team based in Edgware Community Hospital, Barnet, North London. The successful applicant will receive regular supervision have access to a wide range of development opportunities to support their continued professional development. There are also monthly peer support groups and regular supervision/appraisals. Main duties of the job

We are looking for an Occupational Therapist (OT) with Community Therapy experience, enthusiasm and innovative working practice. The role would suit someone looking to develop their Community working with a supportive and friendly team. Excellent communication (Written and Verbal) skills are required for multidisciplinary working, problem solving, and collaborative working with Community partners/Acute discharge teams.

The successful post holders should have a Bsc/Msc in Occupational Therapy and current HCPC membership. They should be highly organised with skills to complete specialised OT assessments in patient's homes, using evidence based tools and approaches to identify physical, cognitive and psychosocial

Job responsibilities

  • To comply with all the organisational and departmental policies and procedures. To contribute to discussions on service/policy development and provide comments on proposals and to propose changes where required.
  • To be responsible for equipment used in carrying out Occupational Therapy duties and to adhere to departmental equipment policy, including competence to use equipment. To ensure the safe use of equipment by others through teaching, training, and supervision of practice.
  • To decide priorities for your own work area, balancing other patient related and professional demands and ensure that these remain in accordance with those of the department.
  • Be aware of the Health and Safety aspects of your work and implement any policies which may be required to improve the safety of your work area, including the prompt recording, and reporting of accidents and incidents to senior staff.

    Qualifications

    Essential

    • Degree/Diploma in Physiotherapy
    • Current HPC Registration
    • Specialist training in Elderly Care


    Experience

    Essential

    • Minimum of 2 years UK post qualification experience including:
    • Community Service
    • Orthopaedic rehabilitation
    • Neurology
    • Elderly rehabilitation
    • Musculo-skeletal conditions
    • Community


    Skills & Knowledge

    Essential

    • Good communication skills
    • Able to work as part of a team
    • Demonstrate a problem-solving approach
    • Able to delegate and supervise staff appropriate to grade.
    • Able to prioritise and manage time
