We are looking for a self motivated and experienced nurse with specialist palliative care experience to support the Matron and clinical team at Cransley Hospice . This post is for 22.5 hours.

Cransley Hospice Inpatient Unit has 9 inpatient beds, and is part of the Specialist Palliative Care (SPC) service in Northamptonshire. The applicant must have excellent communication skills, be assertive and be able to make independently sound decisions with the support of the Matron. You will assist in supporting new ways of working to drive and influence innovative practice across multi agency pathways of care. You will be able to influence in leading the delivery of high quality patient care together with the nursing, therapy and medical team.

Main duties of the job

The post holder must have recent experience within a hospice inpatient unit of Band 5 or above. The post holder must have experience of multi-disciplinary team working. With support of Matron, the post holder must demonstrate leadership and motivational skills, be able to prioritise work and delegate where appropriate. The post holder will be working in a fast paced environment and must have the ability to thrive when under pressure. The post holder will be required to be flexible to work a 24 hours/7 days shift pattern.

Whilst this post is based at Cransley Hospice, the post holder will be expected to support our colleagues at Cynthia Spencer Hospice, Northampton should service needs dictate.

Qualifications

Essential

  • oRegistered Nurse (Adults)
  • oFirst level degree in related subject (or willingness to undertake)
  • oMentorship or equivalent qualification in teaching and assessing.


Desirable

  • oAdvanced Communications Course


Experience

Essential

  • oSignificant Post Registration experience
  • oAble to demonstrate expertise in working in a multidisciplinary team.
  • oExperience of taking the lead in service (e.g. link nurse)


Desirable

  • oExperience of leading a team
  • oEvidence of ongoing professional development
  • oPalliative care experience in non cancer related areas


Skills/Knowledge

Essential

  • oExcellent communication and organisational skills
