The Camden CAMHS Children Looked After and Unaccompanied Asylum Seekers Team is a multi-disciplinary specialist team which is co-located with social workers from the Local Authority Children Looked After and Permanency Teams. The team provides mental health support to young people, their carers and works closely with their professional networks. The service supports the needs of Children Looked After by Camden both within and outside of the borough.
The CAMHS team extends its offer to Care Experienced Young People up to the age of 24 years in recognition that this is a group which often falls between the gaps in services and continue to have complex presentations which need support. This is one of two posts dedicated to support this population, the other is a band 7 whose role will be to support the band 6 post holder.
The Children Looked after and Unaccompanied Asylum Seekers Team is a hard working, lively and supportive team dedicated to supporting their patients. It is a creative team which welcomes new ideas and thinking.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be part of a multi-disciplinary team that assesses mental health needs advises on appropriate mental health provisions, risk management care planning and provides interventions and therapeutic support to children, young people and their carers. The team has a community approach and will provide a range of interventions in an attempt to engage and support this group of young people todevelop relationships with professionals.
They will be expected to work with the young people's networks, offering advice, consultation and if needed provide training with the band 7 clinician. The post holder will be accountable for a caseload of clients, supported by the CAMHS multi-disciplinary team and will receive regular supervision from a higher banded clinician within the team. They will be expected to work jointly with other members of the team offering specialist CAMHS advice, consultation and training as required.

- Degree level as a minimum plus some specialist and practical knowledge equating to postgraduate diploma level
- Registration with HCPC or relevant professional body as either a nurse, occupational therapist, drama or art therapist or social worker
Experience

- Some clinical experience of assessing complex mental health and wellbeing needs of young people and/or experience of working with Children Looked After or Care Experienced young people
- Some background understanding of the changing NHS and Social Care environment and the challenges they face
- Some knowledge of legislation national and local policies relevant to Service and client group
- Participate in clinical supervision and contribute to practical training of other service staff
