Main duties of the job

Cancer service provision within North Cumbria University Hospitals crosses all boundaries with every directorate, department and team within the organisation involved in prevention, diagnosis, treatment and survival directly or indirectly contributing to the quality of care and standards, and is also supported by a Macmillan Cancer Information and Support Service.

We diagnose and treat approximately 2,500 new cancer cases per year. Most patients are diagnosed and treated locally Our comprehensive cancer services, provided to the residents of North Cumbria, include fast track outpatient appointments (two week wait), diagnostic services, surgical procedures, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and specialist nurse support. Where highly specialised treatments are required, patients are referred to the appropriate tertiary centre where those specialist services are provided

We strive to deliver a high quality, comprehensive and patient-focused service for all our cancer patients throughout their care.
