Are you an enthusiastic and motivated Mental Health Nurse ? Do you have experience of working within the community or with older people? If so we are the team for you!
Being awarded the Royal College of Psychiatry, Older Adult CMHT of the year in 2017, we continue to work to improve our service and provide excellent care to our patients and their families.
Our team covers a large geographical area bordering Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Wiltshire and so is ideally placed for staff commuting from Swindon, Reading and Aylesbury.
Working as part of our multi-disciplinary team you will be expected to offer assessments and interventions to our patient group of older adults with mental health needs. You will manage a caseload of patients with a variety of mental health conditions both functional and organic as well as supporting our duty and triage function.
The MDT is made up of Medical, Nursing, Occupational Therapy and Psychology colleagues and we highly regard one another's professional background and contribution to the care of our patients. We view supervision as fundamental to the functioning of the team both clinically and in terms of the wellbeing of our staff. We can provide professional supervision and CPD opportunities both profession specific and more generally.
You will need to be organised, flexible and committed to delivering the highest possible care to our client group. Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as good lT skills are essential.
Ideally you will have experience of working in older adult mental health services and understand the challenges that working with this client group brings. However, if you have transferrable skills and are motivated to learn about our client group we would encourage you to apply.
We are a friendly, supportive and proactive team with a culture of high standards of care and any successful applicant will need to be committed to maintaining this. The team works closely with a wide range of internal and external partner’s including GPs, district nursing, therapy services, ambulatory care, social care and physical and mental health inpatient providers. The service has strong links with the South Oxfordshire Integrated Locality Team aimed at delivering well-coordinated patient care and to share our respective skills and knowledge with one another.
The team’s primary base is at Abingdon Community Hospital with additional offices in Wallingford and Thame Community Hospitals. This role will be based from either Abingdon or Wallingford following discussion with the candidate.
Core working hours are Monday-Friday 09:00-17:00. Out-of-hours support services are managed via a team rota. Staff will be expected to work on this rota which includes occasional weekend 09:00-17:00 shifts and evening shifts in the week between 17:00-20:00.
We would really encourage you to be in contact and come and see how we work.
